Out for a steady plod to the shops 15 miles away, got a bit fed up 4 cars back from following Sainsbury lorry at 40 on A road. SWMBO advises 'it's a lovely day why rush' and I think the 60 reg grey VRS in 2 cars front will surely overtake the nervous Fiesta who keeps ignoring decent chances. However nobody pressures

Fiesta and I resist several urges to blat past all the traffic thus upsetting wife. Finally Fiesta overtakes in terrible place - double lines and oncoming traffic. VRS goes for it seconds later at entrance of village where cars are usually exiting at a rate of knots. Follow lorry for another 30 seconds to find road blocked. Yes you've guessed it, the unmarked VRS Octavia had pulled alongside the Fiesta with previously unseen lights flashing. They then indicated and pulled off the main road for a chat. Glad I listened to the wife.....honestly. About a mile on we cleared lorry and arrived at shops unflustered.

More hurry less speed. To arrive a whole 2 mins sooner. Pointless.

I used to do a regular run between 2 towns in bucks at peak times.

There were a few safe passing places but often most were a bit tight and traffic would be medium both ways

There often would be a white van man or some other go faster hatch must get in front of the car in front, come flying past some times they would have near misses.

99% of the time you would end up 1-2-3 vehicles behind at the first roundabout or set of lights a bit further on entering the town.

Time saved risking life <10seconds on a 17mile 30mins trip.

Same thing happened on the way to Dorset from Wales last night, big flash 12 plate merc did not like being slowed down by us peasants.

Pulled off some retarded overtaking down the middle of the 2 lanes , which forced traffic in each lane to pull out of his way when all of a sudden a white octy estate blasted past me with lights a flashing lol.

Needless to say a rather sheepish old fella was seen in the merc as we drove past them pulled in the layby.
