Sky ADSL DLM

Featured Replies

My Sky ADSL connection is currently going through DLM again, and after 3 days the speed has increased.

My current stats are:

Download :5475 kbps

Upload :798 kbps

Line Attenuation : Up 57.0db , Down 35.4db

Noise: Up 7.2db, Down 10.0db

Seem pretty good compared to the 4 meg down with 512kbps up that I had before. Keeping my fingers crossed that these are the final figures.

Also interesting to note, the router is now connecting using PPOA again and not MER which it has been on for more than 12 months. Seems that the exchanges where Sky fibre is available MER is being used on fibre and PPOA on copper.

at those stats when this training period has finished i would phone Sky support up again and ask them to set the line to run a G.DMT (ADSL) rather than the standard ADSL2+ , since you appear to have a longer line you'll find that your downstream attenuation should be that bit lower and infact you may gain up to 1mb in speed.

Yep, I am out in the sticks a bit, on the opposite side of town to the exchange. Blandford is one of the pioneering exchanges in Dorset, and should I choose to go over to BT infinity+ then the speed increases would be dramatic as the fibre cabinet is less than 300yds from my front door.

Dunno why it decided to test against Preston

That isn't too bad for a line with 57dB attenuation though.

Mine on ADSL2+ was 27dB and got a sync rate of around 15000
