1991 Polo GT Coupe project

Featured Replies

Hey there guys, I'm selling my Polo GT to fund a few bits for my Fabia. It's a 1991 model with 140k on the clock. I got it about 18 months ago with a busted head gasket. Fixed the head gasket and got it running but didn't see it being a sensible car for my daily commute so left it for a while with the plan of putting an afh lump in it or even a 1.8t. Needless to say I never got round to it.

While I've owned it it's had new head gasket, head bolts etc and cambelt and had all of the springs and shocks replaced as the old ones were getting a bit bouncy. It's about -60 or -80mm down. The car has a powerflow exhaust that has seen barely any use. Seats are in quite nice nick, bodywork is really great one small flake on the rear quarter near side. Not really much rust, a little in the battery tray but other than that really solid. It's a gorgeous car with all the GT benefits, sporty seats, black headlining, rev counter, 1.3 injection engine, nice bumpers etc etc. the engine runs and it sounds glorious!

It has no tax or MOT and will need to be trailered away. It needs a bit of work to get it road ready but will be a great little car for somebody.

You're welcome to come and view it anytime or give me a call to discuss. my email address is [email protected] and you can PM me for my phone numer. I'm on here often so should see any replies in the thread

I'd like to get my £350 back but I understand that I may not.

Make me an offer. I'm open to swaps for anything really, but not another car!

I'll add a couple more pictures when I've moved it and cleaned it up a bit.

I wish I had time to sort it because it really is a beautiful car. Light enough that any power in 3 figures would make it extremely fun. It's crying out for a 1.4 16v on bike carbs some nice wheels and a proper cage. I'll be gutted when it goes

Wish I had a garage too. I so miss my polo coupe! One of the best cars I owned, had mine for 18months and knocked up 20k in it always returned 350-400 miles to a tank. I also bought my with a head gasket failure run it for 18 months and sold for £400 more than it cost me.

GLWS - great little cars and ideal first cars
