OBD 2 ENABLING CRITERIA

Featured Replies

CAR; OCTAVIA2 1.9TDI ESTATE 2005

Just bought a VAG scanner, T55 by quicklynks, apparently I need the "enabling criteria" , i.e how to drive the car to get the obd2 function to work.

When I use the scanner on V.A.G setting it shows up the ABS problem I bought it for but when I run it on OBD"/EOBD +CAN setting it shows "no codes stored".

Iam assuming that certain tests need the engine running, but no help in manual or on website, can anyone please clarify wheather you need to have engine running to carry out some scan tests and can anyone point me to where I can find out what the "enabling criteria" are.

Thanks

try engine of ignition on !

Me again, maybe my question is not clear, "do you need the engine running to enable obd2 function, " that is running, not just the ignition on. Also where can I find the Skoda obd2 enabling criteria.

Thanks

I think he meant - try engine OFF and ignition ON

If it says 'no codes stored' it means the scanner is working fine and there are no codes stored. As far as I know standard EOBD does not include codes for ABS faults, thats why you are only getting a code when scanning in VAG specific mode. An ABS fault shouldn't flag anything up in generic OBD/EOBD mode, which is what you are seeing.
