Bilt Hamber Clay Bar

Featured Replies

Any idea where I can buy some of this other than `on line` where I'll have to pay the postage and packing? Many thanks.

I struggle to find any decent detailing products in the shops. You can get Megs clay bar in Halfords if that's any use.

Nah, its Bilt Hamber I want coz its used with water. Many thanks, though for your input.

I use megs with water, works fine.

Or can just use a tiny bit of car shampoo in the bottle.

I didn't like how the Meg's bars worked with water, but that might be personal preference. Found it needed the lubrication from QD to keep it moving properly over the paint. One of the main reasons I moved to the BH bars as well :)

Don't know about Bilt Hamber in shops though. You might want to contact them and ask for a list of suppliers in your area. I have a local detailing place near here where I can get it.

just buy it online, it's still a lot cheaper than meg's clay bars

I got mine from i4detaining, also used cleanyourcar and if you register on Detailing world there are also forum discounts that can be had on most of the online sites. Just looking into buying 100ml bottles of Gtechnic G1+2 to redo all the family cars and vans ready for the winter, also need some BH clay as well as nearly out :D

My bilt hamber clay came from Ebay I think. Was same price as most detailing shops, but was down as free P&P. I think I paid just over a tenner for a large chunk? Its good stuff. :D

Decent price, especially delivered. I pay a bit less as a 'walk-in' price for mine.

I'm about to order my first ever Clay Bar. I'm going for a `Bilt Hamber Soft`. I believe I now know how to use it...but not how to take care of it! I think that the first thing I'm supposed to do is cut it into six pieces. Should I then seal each piece in cling film to preserve it? And what about the piece I'm using... should I seal that too for use the next time (assuming its not too dirty of course) or should I always throw away what I've just used no matter what? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Mike.

Cling film would work, yes.

And yes, you can re-use pieces for next time if it hasn't picked up too much. Just re-mould it.

I then tend to use older pieces on my wheels, as it can be good for picking up and removing brake deposits etc.

If it is mostly tar spots then reuse is ok, as they get dirtier though they get relegated to just wheel duty. If you drop it though beware reuse as if it picks up grit it can cause swirls

Yep, if you drop it, bin it. Simple as that.

Far too risky to re-use it.

the bh clay bar should come in a plastic container, just put a few drops of water in to keep moist
