Can my Felicia have PMT?

Three times, once a month roughly, I have called out the breakdown. Twice after having being driving for five minutes. The third time it failed to start from base. Every time the mechanic did the usual checks, (except no computer diagnostics), find nothing and have me towed home. Every time, I manage to start, and drive the following day - no problems.

After the second time I followed advice from this Forum and replaced plugs, leads, rotor arm and distributor cap of the Bosch system.

After the third time, the mechanic reckoned it was over-fuelling, showing me fuel on the plugs. Said it was a common fault with single point ignition Skodas and I'd probably need a new carb.

Drove it to Skoda garage. They did a diagnostic, couldn't find anything (except a bill for me) and said I would have to bring it in when it wasn't working!

Now her indoors wants to sell the car on to some unlucky buyer cos she doesn't want to keep breaking down wherever, whenever. Can anyone help me keep my faith?

Sounds like a coolant temp sensor to me, they have a habit of going haywire and over fueling. On short journeys it tends to dampen the plugs down to the point that they wont fire.

Good news is its a cheap and easy fix.
