Best thing is no glue and no slime in the tyre so the tyre fitters can plug it properly

I have used it on my motorcycle tyres and it works fine

Not sure I'd be happy with this on a car myself. Simply because without getting the tyre off, not easy to see if you've done properly.

I'd rather let the tyre place do repairs.

Bought a Silverline kit off Amazon - handy for any car that has no spare such as an Elise.

It's all too often that temporary repairs don't often get followed up with a proper repair. Space saver spares are bad enough with people fitting them to the wrong end of the car and keeping them on for too long, having no spare at all is silly.

OK if you know what you're doing, its limitations and you're responsible enough to follow it up promptly with a proper repair.

Not sure if these are legal for road use TBH. Used a kit like this years ago on farm quad's and trailers but the kit clayier stated off road use only. Still, might get away with it until you got a proper repair done.

They are sold by a reputable company so I have no reason to doubt whether they are road legal or not.

Just carry a spare, what happens if you have a blowout? Or a super fast deflation and you shred the tyre, this stuff is as useful as a chocolate butt plug

Not all cars now come with a spare and these kits started mainly for bikes, where a spare is very rare. If the tyre shreds then time to call the AA, otherwise it is a quick 'get you home or to the garage' fix.

Yes all new cars come with a spare! Just SPEC it or ask nicely for one before you strike the deal as for the bike yes absolutely as its difficult to carry a spare, son used to carry slime tubes on His s-works bicycle but now just carries plenty of spare tubes

Almost all mpv now don't have room for spares!

Some brands do self sealing tyres for this very reason.

Great idea, but so is putting on spare,then letting experts repair the puncture. I remember when kits like these first became available.Then folk repaired and forgot. ( Till the temporary repair let them down.)

If they can't remember a puncture for the hour it takes to cover the 50 miles then they are probably senile and shouldn't be driving anyway.

I would rather not have the spare, or the tools to change it, as it is just dead weight for 99.9% of the time.

Not having it saves me money on the price of the car and improves fuel economy (yeah OK only slightly but every penny counts)

if it saves me £150 over 3 years, i reckon that's worth it.

I only had to be recovered once in 75000 miles and that was due to a cut on the sidewall which meant tyre weld didn't work.

Twice in 2 years :( blowout on the A14 ripped the tyre to bits!, so the tyre weld repair would've been useless, and at 2 clock in the morning and chucking it down, thank god I had a spare

Last work car had 4 punctures in 100k, current one has had 1 so far at 18k and this one has no spare or inflation kit!

It is, I agree, but an average of 25,000 miles between punctures.

I wonder how much extra a spare in the boot would have cost you in fuel?

Not my fuel bill, but given the car is FULLY laden with parts, and I still get manufacturer average or better, I doubt very much.

Spare wheel is just like insurance; you buy it but hope never to have to use it.

The convenience of being able to continue my journey as normal is what makes it indispensable for me.

Even with a spare there are places I wouldn't want to jacking a car up and taking the wheel off. One of them would be the hard shoulder of a motorway - especially it was a driver's side puncture.
