Dunlop Or?

Featured Replies

I know tyres are a regular feature within this forum, but we'll be in the market for a pair of replacement fronts in the next month or so.

The present tyres are 'Dunlop SP Sport 01', & are down to perhaps 3mm, with a recorded distance of (circa) 24,700miles showing

Having in the past replaced the (previous) C-Max fronts at (seemingly) 7-9,000 mile intervals, I'm more than happy with the rates of wear shown (for same useage too)

I've been more than happy with the Dunlops in terms of noise, grip & wet-weather ability.

Is it the considered opinion of the forum that another set is a good investment for us?? (one thing I don't want is a set of those 'arrow' type tread tyres!)

They appear to be available at reasonable prices online too!

If you've managed to get 25,000 miles out of them and you have been happy with them then there really is no reason to look elsewhere. The larger 225/40/18s on the vRS get a fair bit of criticism on here, but clearly they work with your car and your driving.

Dunlop has a bad reputation on here.

I'm in agreement with you though, our Scout came with the Dunlop SP Sport 01's on from the factory and they have been great for grip, noise, snow/ice and wear, we got 28,000 miles out of ours.

So we replaced them for another full set!

Good to see some positive views on Dunlop on here!

I just invested in 4 Sport Maxx RTs. Believe these are a brand new model.

Very pleased so far. Grip superb, wet & dry. Seem to be wearing well too.

Apparently they also have 7% less rolling resistance than similar dry weather performance tyres. Fuel economy does seem slightly up, although I have done no accurate measurements.

Read some good reviews before taking the plunge.

So far so good.
