Hi all, just bought my first Skoda and I'm dead impressed.

We buy a "new" car about every 24/30 months.........what I do is buy a car about a year old with low mileage and immaculate condition,run it for 24/30 months before selling it privately and buying another "new" one..........cost wise it works out within our budget and means we are covered by manufacturers guarantees.

I sold my last car within three days of adverising it (Honda Civic, got £8k for it........best dealer offer was £6K) so needed to hire a car........I got a Fabia and was, before I drove it, somewhat xissed of at the thought of driving a Skoda!!

How glad I am that the guy at the rental company gave it to me, what a great car, well screwed together, solid and the 1.6CRD, what a gem of an engine, smooth, pulls like a train and so so frugal.

After using it for three days and covering a few hundred miles visiting relatives we deceided we were in the market for a Skoda.

We found an October 2011 Octavia 1.6CRD with the 7 speed DSG box and 6,300 miles on the clock within our budget at Blades in Twigworth so bought it.

Only a week in and we are delighted with it.........I gave it the works by cleaning and polishing it yesterday and its imaaculate.

In three weeks it will be doing its first journey of around three or four a year down to Valencia in Spain, I'm looking forward to the drive allready and I'm sure the fuel consumption will put a big grin on my face.

Sounds like avery nice car.

Skoda still have the stigma attached to them but that makes it feel even better when you drive it past the people looking down their nose at it not knowing how good they actually are

I'm looking forward to it. We take the ferry from Portsmouth down to Santander or Bilbao then drive down to our home in Santa Pola......I'm going to attempt to do it on one tankfull....door to door it's around 670 miles, fingers crossed
