Yep still planning on the respray. Will need anew bumper at that point as a carbon fibre number plate surround is one of the bits I'm getting manufactured :) wasn't planning to do the widemouth if I'm honest but it does look good :)

Looking good Charlie! Looking forward to seeing pics back on the car! Should get the crash bar powder coated now, would look smarter to the eye :)

Thanks Dan :) I'll get a couple of pics when my new plate turns up. I've got my old plate cable tied on at the moment

Have you gone for a vinyl plate or a smaller one mate? I'm sure it looks good! Keep thinking I want to do it to mine but I like this to be symmetrical so the offset plate would annoy me - I have thought about a smaller plate then cable tie it to the mesh. Will wait to see how yours turns out :)

I've ordered a smaller plate. I like the symmetry myself but with the widemouth you need the plate out of the way.

Wouldn't want to cover the fog light areas too

What going on with your grille dude?

  • Author

I sent it away to c6 carbon so they can make one up in carbon fibre, same for the fog surrounds

Ah! Looked a bit bare!

Looking forward to having a nose at Combe mate :)

  • Author

Yeah it is a bit bare. Didn't want to buy a replacement though

Looks good! I like how the FMIC is on show more - can barely see mine!

Looking good and hope you get the bits before Combe.

You should get a front splitter as well, finish the front off nicely. :)

  • Author

Thanks Dan. It makes it look more aggressive too.

Don't think they will be ready John :( will just have to have the bonnet up on the club stand. Think I'll definitely get a splitter too. Karl (Korban) thinks I should get a carbon fibre one :)

Karl (Korban) thinks I should get a carbon fibre one :)

He has good taste. :)

Of all the mk1 Fabia VRS colours, the splitter looks best on a black one.

Can't wait to see the CF bits! Splitter would finish it off a treat mate. Don't go any lower though, mines always scrapping and causing an inconvenience. Can't wait for my APs to come so I can raise it!

  • Author

No chance of going lower as I've got fixed suspension. carbon splitter will be great though

Not sure if the new plate is a little small?? It's 12" x 3"

Loving the progress on this, looks awesome!

More rain again today! But my brother fitted my rear beam bushes. I helped as much as I could :) got soaked and didn't gets chance to take pics. Will give it a test later :)

How much of a pain was the rear beam bushes to do?I think those are the only ones which ain't been done on mine so may upgrade those soon

  • Author

A vice or g clamp is essential. You've got to drop the rear beam which makes things a little tricky. Took about 6 hours in total as one of them didn't want to go in fully. Took almost 3 hours to do that alone.

In other news I'm getting some tarox braided brake lines fitted on Thursday :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Just read through this whole thread, the fabia looks awesome!

Couple of odd questions, don't suppose you remember where you got the new cigarette lighter from? And was the catch can mod easy enough to do? I'm planning on doing it but just to atmosphere. And do you have any tips on getting the chrome grille surround off, want to plastidip mine :)

Cheers man

  • Author

Cigarette lighter came from ebay, not sure which one exactly, but was a bit of a pain to fit.

If your venting to atmosphere it will be easy, you could do it in 5 minutes.

I need to refine my catch can though. The vapours are covering the engine bay.

The grille comes off quite easily. There are little tabs on the back you just need to lever out
