many thanks alkip, i will post in other section.,.

s0niX i am unsure, it been doin it since day one drove back from north wales to kent turbo stopped working turned engine off and on and kicked in straight away, new turbo fitted last week fine and did it again then fine for few days

frustrateing as its inconsitent ,,

I had this problem with a golf TDI - When the turbo stopped working it was like driving a tractor!

It turned out to be Air Mass - I'm not an expert maybe hold out someone on here should be able to help.

Sounds like sticky veins on the turbo - causing it to go into limp mode to protect itself.

Get is scanned with VCDS as a first port of call :)

Welcome to the forum too :)

i appreciate your advise, i may well go for that. process of elmination i guess , was u able to do the work yourself ? mechanics not my strong point :wall: cost i hope wont be much ..

Can be mostly sorted with Mr Muscle oven cleaner - there is a guide on here somewhere

As said above, could be also MAF reporting silly readings until it's restarted.

Get it scanned first to find out what the likely cause is first :)

Yes it should be, which is why you should get it scanned. It could also be something like a boost leak which is causing it.

You could possibly diagnose without a scan, but it will generally be harder work to find the fault in the first place if the scan will tell you what's causing it.

VCDS is the new name for vag com - The diagnostic system that connects to the car and reads fault codes, change settings etc.

Have a search on here, there are lots of members who have it, try and find someone near you at the link below:

Does anyone actually know if remapping is safe?

Yes, so long as you go to someone who know's what they're doing, and maps within safe tolerances of the car.

Some members on here have had their cars mapped at 1000 miles and are still going strong after 100,000 miles.
