Re-routing Microphone/cable

Featured Replies

The Microphone for a parrot hands free kit, on the Wife's Fabia MKII Vrs is clipped onto the Pillar trim next to the Drivers door ( A Pillar )

Every time she use's the Sun Blind she breaks the clip holding the Mic.

How easy is it to remove the trim and re-route every thing so it sits out of view in the interior light cluster.

How do you get under the head lining and into the light cluster, not forgetting it's me doing this and not some expert

Thanks in anticipation,

Andy

Having recently fitted the genuine one, the rearward cover (normally for the sunglasses?) pulls out quite easy; pull from the winsdscreen side. The lamp cluster apparently comes out as well, but I didn't need to.

With the "sunglasses" holder out, pull off the door seal, then the headlining will deform enough to either pass a fish wire (coathanger) or (if like me you have slim arms) your arm between the lining and roof panel.

Genuine microphone sits in the one grilled section which is normally bunged up with a piece of foam about the size of two sugar cubes.

The head liner isn't attached to anything along the top of the windscreen so it's quite easy to just tuck the cables in there you should also be able to work the cable behind the trim on the A pillar without removing it -that's what I did. If however you do want to remove the trim it is held on with three clips -top middle and bottom, just pull it away starting from the top.

As above regrading the sunglasses holder or blanking plate -if you do need to remove the light cluster, first prise off the plastic cover with a small screwdriver and there's 2 screws holding it on to the roof if I remember correctly. I have my microphone sitting on top of the rear view mirror -it's a double one and wouldn't fit in the place for the oem one.
