Barum Bravuris 2 v's Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 v's Matador MP46's?

Featured Replies

Im after four mid range tyres in 225/50/17 fitment. I dont want to spend more than £100 each if I can help it.

All the tyres in the title appear to get good reviews and seem to offer, overall, good performance. I have no idea how they perform in terms of noise levels and durability.

Simply question then; which would you choose?

At the moment I think Im swaying towards the Continental produced Barums.

Thanks.

i have tried the barums before in a smaller size and they are a terrible type, i use the kuhmos in your title now and they are awesome (205/45/16 mind you)

I have Bravuris 2 on my Fabia and I really rate them.

Grip is good, especially in the wet, standing water is no problem, ride is definitely improved from my Toyos and less of that vagueness you get when going over white lines.

Harder to light them up when I really plant it too :)

I've had those Kumho's before, very impressed!

I have the kumho's on now.... I know the fabia vRS II is fickle with tyres, but they are not a patch on the maxxis Z1's I had on before, they are about equal on wet grip, and about 50% of dry grip capabilities of the maxxis... on the plus side they were cheap. (£62 each fitted in 205/40/17 Y flavour)

Ash has the bavarius 2's on her fabia, and they seem pretty good.... I havent experianced them

read some good things about the matador's, but then I did about the KU39's too! lol... not tried 'em.

Sound's like that's your gut feeling, you should go with it. .

Barums are really good for all the Skoda models except perhaps the petrol VRSs (which require AA rate traction tyres) as I had them on 1.8 TSI when doing silly miles and the BOGHP deal at National was a money saver.

As said Contis made in CZ but even some of them are now made in Conti's factory in Germany as people look for cheaper tyres.

Matador made in Slovakia and have a close tie up with Skoda in the past. I have Matador badges on my Skoda rally jacket but do not how good they are. Might use them for winter tyres which I gather they specialise in.

ATS are doing most Michelins at 25% off so you can get the best for less ie 225/40 18 for less than £135 fitted.

The offer comes and goes and may not be on at the moment.

Natonal tyres sell through the Tyre shopper name on the internet and you can get 205/40 17 for between £83 and £76 pounds depending how many you buy.

Sorry I got confused.

Barums can be got for a good price from Tyre Shopper/ National Tyres ie £80 ish for 205s.

Michelins are available at good prices from ATS Euromaster, Michelin actually own ATS, and the simply have adjusted their prices downwards by 25%.

My 225/40 18s Mich PS3s for the Octy would normally be around £176 RRP, though I would always hangle down to £150-ish but ATS are doing for less than £135 at the moment fitted etc and I go for the Nitrogen filling for a quid, seems to help on the Fabia VRS who's tyres were getting incredibly hot ie could not touch and going all squermy but that was with Conti Sport 2s ie old stock that Skoda fitted as OE to save a few quid, talk about "spoiling the ship for a hapeth of tar".

If I could get Michelin PS3's in my 17" size I'd probably stretch to those as I run them on my other car and rate them very highly indeed.

They had to adjust there price to sell some, as the best were alot less. :giggle:

The only place I can find that sell Barum tyres is National so no where to compare if £75 for a 205 45 16 is a good price or not..

National did an exclusive deal in the uk with Continental. ;-)

so for about £76 for a single 205 45 16 is a good price or not?
