So why did the Skoda salesman tell me it would be 2015 before the new Octavia was out

Featured Replies

Even after I indicated that I thought the latest sales brochure appeared to contain a couple of "run out" models.

Like the SE Connect

and the VRS Blackline?

Interestingly on this same theme (i wondered leastwise ) is that why the 2 Octavias in the showroom were in flat red and flat white paint, i.e. emphasing the good value aspect?

just a thought

You've made a naive assumption that just because someone works in a dealership that they know their product

Nail on the proverbial head their Jonno

Because if he told the truth he would have expected you to:

a ) Buy now, but expect a big discount.

or

b ) Not buy until the new model comes out.

Well if you look at it, the Rapid was first shown, what last year or in 2010, as it should be at shows rooms end of the year.

They are showing the new Octavia at the end of the year, so 2014 may be on sale.

We do know that the new Octavia is to be launched next year, so vRS surely will be 2014.

I think I'll start saving my pennies for that and screw everything else I've tried to do with car buying :D

MK3 Octy starts production at the end of the year, I expect they will release a teaser in November. The Leon, and Golf are already ready, and the golf started production last month I think...:)

well derp! as no 1 son is wont to say

i tought i knowed der octavia iii/3 is due end 2012/2013

i were simply disgusted that the apparently young and open faced salesman could be such a bare-faced lying toe-rag, well apparently leastwise, in my humble preception like.

ps

anyone from mulhollands randlestown be on here to comment?

Beacuse there are a lot of Octys on the dock waiting to be sold - Anyone else got a mailer from Skoda offering discounts, 3 years free serving and aouchers if you take a test drivein an Octy?

Because the Rapid maybe the next model launch

The Octavia 3 is out next year, the dealers have had all the information and they know its launch dates, its March or April for the standard Octavia followed by the vRS 3 months later around June, and thats a official from Skoda, my dealer was quite open about it and showed me the publication, but being honest when the new one comes out I dont anticipate and VAT offers, servicing included etc for a little while, maybe 6 months or so as I doubt they will want to devalue a new product (I may be wrong as they may want to flood the market?) but I am happy that my car which is only 2 months old will keep me happy for around another 18 months or so and that is long enough for the new model to of ironed out an initial issues with the new model.

That is what narks me, I/we may be a trifle odd in our decision making processes but I/we are hardly unique.

I for one would much rather buy a loaded run out model at a keen price, than a newly launched model at a premium price, which may well have unforseen niggles or downright engineering design flaws (but unlikely I appreciate)

So why does the salesman not take the long head approach and explain ones options, hey he might snag a "customer for life", and he might even sell a car in the short term.

On the other hand psychometric testing reveals me to be a prefectionist.

This is, of course, why I drive a Skoda!

Sigh.

It would be very strange to see the vRS come out only after 3 months. If you look at the last vRS's... Octavia Mk1 was released 1996, vRS didn't appear till after the facelift (I think the press cars were Y-plate, so 2001-ish), the Mk2 released 2004, and the vRS came out late 2005. Fabia Mk1 released 1999, vRS in 2003. Fabia Mk2 released in 2010 (ish).

Golf Mk5 was 2004, GTI in 2005, same as the Octavia (Mk6 doesn't count, as it was just a reskin of the Mk5).

3 months would be brilliant, but based on previous form I can't see it!

Have to agree with Babs - look at the Ford Focus, new model has been out a year, ST is only just getting delivered to people...

Any new vRS will HAVE to be after VW push the Golf GTI out. There is no chance Skoda will have a vRS out before this point.

Yup, they all follow the group!

I was told by my dealer VRS 2014

I warny interested, nor did I enquire, about a VRS,

I simply asked about the new Octavia, saying I would probably want the 1.6 diesel DSG.

Presumably it will take that long to get the new plant in Russia up and running? I suppose they must have run models to get to eager customers? Or maybe they have stockpiles of old GAZ vehicles to shift?
