A Little Worried.

Featured Replies

I think that the factory only builds right hand drive cars for a specified production run each time. When theses production runs are scheduled they like to have them full and at the time of planning they are not exclusively full of specific customer orders. To fill these, Skoda UK will order vehicles to be built to fill this production run, which are not specifically ordered by a customer.

From what I understand, there is some leeway into changing the specification of a car upto a set time before the car is due to be built, so in theory a car ordered months ago by Skoda UK without a customer attached to it can be re-specified and attached to a customer.

Maybe the OPs scheduled car is too close to it being built to have its specification changed.

I've not heard of "Scheduled" but there are cars already made either on the way to the UK, in the UK or still coming out of the factory which are generic builds (usually with few optional extras) that any dealer can reserve.

There is no difference in those cases to ordering, other than it gets here much quicker.

This is good information. Thanks very much. The only things requested that are not standard on a Elegance here are the Multi Media holder and the height adjustment on the passenger seat. In the lap of the gods now I think. Might just check with dealer tomorrow to see if there is any progress to report.

Called to the dealer today, who checked with Skoda Ireland and on his own computer and our 'scheduled' car is to be built week 38 ie next week  As well as our requested extras this car is also fitted with City Safe, which we did not request, and the dealer has said that he will throw this in. He has already offered to fit mud flaps front and rear for free, so I am well pleased. He said it is luck of the draw as regards shipment date, that depending on when the next one is. He said we could be lucky and it could leave within days, but otherwise he would not expect longer than 3weeks for delivery after build...ie not later than first week in October. Not so worried now

That's interesting! Placed our order yesterday (60ps elegance 5dr). Lead time 12-16 weeks.

Asked for mudflaps, was told only fronts possible, because rear bumper comes down too far.

^^^^^^^

Correct there vegit8, only front flaps available at the moment.

Note that I ordered a car that was showing on the dealers computer as "scheduled'. He advised we go for this as it would speed up delivery. As it happened it was even better spec. than what we were ordering. Otherwise delivery was likely to have been longer. It appears his advice was good.

Order was placed last week in August.

Thanks for info Lee. Thought they would be same as Volkswagon UP! Not so? Having compared rear bumpers in UP and Citigo, since your post, it seems that there is a difference in the way the bottom ends are contoured. Are the fronts different too? Do Skoda intend bringing out rear ones do you know?

Not actually looked at the Up! too closely. As for rear mudflaps, I guess that at the moment the answer would be no.

Will always aim to keep topics updated with accessory changes etc, so as soon as I know then you will.

Called to dealer this morning. Good news. Our car is built and gone to 'local transport'. He said that delivery is usually within 10 days, a week sometimes, but does not want to raise hopes unduly.

That's great news, Liam!

Still waiting for mine, another trip to the dealer tomorrow...

Good news, another silver leaf i believe.

Yes Mick. I liked the extra images you posted in the Citigo pics thread, especially the first two I think in your drive. I thought that they were probably pretty accurate representations of the colour, which I have never seen in reality, but from those think I'm going to like.

It might appear from the relatively short production time of our car that there is benefit in ordering a car that is 'scheduled', if it meets, or is close to your requirements, rather than sticking to every detail to make your car a special order. Your dealer should be able to establish this from his computer.

They still don't really show the colour properly, it still looks silver in the pics.

I parked next to a bright silver car today which looked close to the silver Citigo colour, wished I'd took a picture now of them together but it was raining heavily.

A letter awaiting our return (been away saturday/sunday) from the DVLA, it was the reg document for the Citigo, quick arriving that was. Anyway the colour showing on the reg document is Beige. So they reckon it's nearer beige than silver, I'm not so sure about that

BTW see my other new post.

Which post is that? The one in the Citigo Pic thread, or the one about wetting your trousers :giggle:

The wetting myself, yep

And it's still raining here. :wonder:

There have been reports that the back of the car picks up dirt in the wet. I have noticed this in a lot of 'straight' backed cars. How have you found it in the wet Mick?

Our car is in the country. Dealer received email to say it will be available for delivery 8th of this month. Meantime he has lent the demonstrator, a 60bps Ambition. It drives really very well. Did a short run on National and Motorway roads today and it was a pleasure. Spritely through the gears, well planted and steady on the roads up to national motorway speed limit 120kph (74.5 mph). No difficulty at all with gears...very slick and smooth throughout. No funny noises. Car feels very solid. Bumps are taken no problem and no rattles. Delightful really.

PS.

Took it for a test in a torrent of rain today. No air conditioning, but car did not steam up with position 1 fan warm air on the windscreen. Water ran across the road in parts. All taken in it's stride. No judders when I hit the pools. Yes at those times I could hear water thrown up under the wheel arches, but it wasn't offensive and as I said was not accompanied by any dramas. Other than those times water noise in the wheel arches, which has been mentioned elsewhere, was a non issue for me. My Nissan Tiida 1.6, now with the dealer, was not immune to me hearing water thrown into the wheel arches in such conditions, and it had liners. Also It seemed to me that it was more affected by hitting pools of water than the Citigo. I'm finding the car spritely on hills, as long as in the right gear. Again I am having no issues with gears. First is no problem, even when the car is moving slowly coming to possible stop or go at a junction. The honeymoon continues. It's just nice to be in.

Well no more worry, our car, Elegence 60bhp is at the dealers :sun: and will be available for collection tomorrow morning at 11.30. For information it was a car that was already 'scheduled' for production, as mentioned in my original post. As it happened it included all our options and colour. Only thing was that it was a 60bhp, not the 75bhp planned. I am quite content about that though having read up on the difference. I have also been driving a 60bhp demonstrator for the past week and it is plenty zippy and able for the Motorway. So that makes 6 weeks from order to delivery. Something worth requesting your dealer to check if, as I was, worried about delivery time.

I was going to go for a new 60ps because thats what I test drove and it was a really good nippy engine it would have suited me fine. But I was offered the ex demo 75ps so I went for that. The 75ps is slightly nippier but no drastically so, so I think you will be quite happy with it :)

And Liam, you will have to report back on what you think of the Silver Leaf colour.

Hope all goes well with the car tomorrow

Oh sure Mick. I like the colour very much. Very happy with it. I will take some pics asap, weather permitting, and post in the picture thread. I got the adjustable height passenger seat option for my wife, and the extra speakers. I hadn't intended to order the City Safe feature, but being a "scheduled' car it had it planned in so that's in it to. I sat in it for a few minutes and it ticks over nice and quietly. I got the impression that it was quieter than the middle range Ambition demonstrator I have been driving for the past week. I don't know if that should make sense. I will know better when I take it out tomorrow. I tried the gears static and they were perfect, including reverse. It has the Continental tyre. I got the good quality Skoda mats and mud flaps front. I'm like a pig in ****
