Surely some one can give me some hints or tips ?

Most bhp per £ would be a remap.

Decat frees up a few ponies, if it's coupled to a 2.5" pipe so it can breathe easier.

Also... upgraded intercooler. May add a little more power, but it adds it for longer.

Unless you want to spend lots of money, I have a feeling you are better off buying a 110 or a 130 :-(

I think (but don't quote me), that the 90 and 110 share the same injectors, so there won't be any benefit from changing those.

have you actually removed the EGR section of pipework, or just disconnected the vacuum control pipes? The former would be better as it creates less air flow restrictions.

Anyone know what would be a good sized intercooler ? because i thought more cold air/bigger would be better then i read a little more into things then i hear anti lag ect.. still trying to understand the best size to go for, but i want to do a big mouth to my vrs bumper

Right firstly unplug your EGR valve, pull the pipe off ohe EGR, bung an M6 screw or so up the rubber pipe and tape the pipe on the EGR itself. Next get yourself some used 110 injectors off ebay, when they turn up put the tip up to the seal in Mr Muscle oven cleaner overnight then rinse them under the tap (just the tip mind) clean them with white spirit or injector cleaner or something oil based then fit them. (1.5 hours max and get new injector seals from Skoda at 50p each or something silly). Then use Vag-Com to alter the fuelling accordingly, Google this bit. The buy yourself a MAF sensor from a 2.0L petrol, its the same part number as the 90 ALH TDi lump but a different suffix. You might want to go a step further and do the Mr Muscle in the turbo for 2 hours then take it for a good thrashing.

And your old injectors will sell to the TDi lover in the states, if you clean them and advertise them as used and cleaned etc... trust me! I got £20 more for my old ones than I paid for my new ones!!!

take a look also on Freds stacks of reading -- forums.tdiclub.com ---- stacks of stuff for that engine type look for posts also from Andy Pandy in sweden he's into economy tuning hope this helps

Remap and leave

90 and 110 are identical APART from the injecters, so 110 injecters and then a remap after based on that, should hit 140-150bhp ish

I Can't see getting 150ish from just a remap. I think the quoted figures are pretty much all 130-135bhp for a remap on the TDI 110. Perhaps if you had a spanking clean engine with ALL the mods and a remap that would be realistic. To answer the original question - I would get the engine nice and clean, including the turbo as per loftys previous posts, then get it fully serviced. To quote someone else on here a "Stage 0 tune up." Other than that I'd remap and spend the rest on good rubber. Should be possible for £600 + insurance increase. AFAIK the returns after that are diminishing. Although if you want handling maybe the ARBs and stuff the VRS guys put on might be worth a look as long as you can find correctly weighted ones for the TDI suspension.

your right, that was ambitious actually. in process of trying 110 injectors now myself after reading here

I know very little about mods other than most have unrealistic claims :p

well i'll know soon if doing the injector upgrade is worth it as lofty is planing too do this :D

  • 9 months later...

Is it possible to to install injectors from a 110hp TDI into an 90hp ALH engine? WOuld that make any difference? I have the posibility to get some low mileage injectors from an ASV engine for a good price. And after I'd go for a remap.

yup with a map you should see 125 ish bhp

so how's progress :wonder:
