Buying 1.2 HTP - Feedback?

Featured Replies

Hi.

My mate is looking at buying a Fabia 1.2 HTP & I was hoping I could get some useful information on the car.

Has anyone owned one of these before?

Common Faults?

Fuel usage?

The actual link to the car is below.

Your thoughts guys?

Anyone? :)

It's an excellent car.

Mine give 23 mpg. Its comfortable, but seats fabric tends to get easily stained. Its quite fast for the engine it has.

Only problem I've got its a leak in the water take, and the aircon has a delay cooling when it start from fresh. But I think those are minor issues that are due to second hand condition.

Hope you have the chance to even try it.

I have had a 1.2 HTP for two months now. And has been a really good car, considering it only has 65BHP it is pretty quick considering, only common problems are leaky door seals. Which can be easily fixed by looking around the forum. If you go to look at a fabia, feel the carpets, and if they're wet then the seals will need sorting.

had mine since 16th july, love this car mine is the 6v 54bhp,plenty fast enough for my mainly town use, just change the oil reguarly

i drive quite heavy footed really and always seem to get over 30mpg, can get much better if driven properly.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

oh and i get 38mpg round town and drive fairly swiftly

i have the 54bhp one, love it very nippy, i get 40 to 43 mpg, just drive it steady. Yes rear doors leak on mine, forget the dealer fix and do it yourself. Takes about 1 hour with tiger seal around bottom of shiny inner plate. (takes about 1 hour to take linings off and fix) Although 1 side hasnt fixed, i will have another go.) Just make sure the engine doesnt sound like its 'tapping' too much at idle as heads/valves can be a problem. Best advice is once you get it, dont use supermarket fuel and change the oil regularly. (my economy improved with a full filter and oil change, plus a fuel filter change, which is under the car near the rear)

All in all, great and cheap to run and insure, sometimes basic can offer the most fun!
