Retro fitting climatatronic MY2012 VRS

Featured Replies

Read a few old threads and didnt get the answer i'm looking for so think this is worth revisiting , my MY2012 VRS has standard air con , my mums MY2010 has climatronic so i've used both and really not impressed with the stock air con

Looking here is appears all you need is panel so i presume its a case of removing the old panel and plugging in the new , a email to car systems seems to confirm thats all you need , for 99euro it kinda seems a no brainer

Has anyone done it ??

Can see it myself, your missing the vent temp sensors, the sunlight sensor, also the wiring is different and there is no resistor pack on climatronic air con. Also on standard a/c direction is still cable operated rather than motor.

I'm sure I've reads threads suggesting it would run to thousands

Yeah so have I but that's not what the link suggests

I should check with the experts first before believing it

Isn't that panel meant as an upgrade for an older climatronic - not to convert to climatronic.

That's kinda what I'm doing now :)

Dropping in the Climatronic display and hoping it just works is pretty optimistic. Basically, the heater matrix flaps/unit are likely to be different, you'll need a sunlight sensor, and I think there are a couple of temp sensors around in the interior as well. The wiring loom for all that stuff looks pretty hardcore, most of it is tucked in next to the firewall and requires complete interior disassembly.

Good luck!

Checked my mums fabia which has oem climatronic and apart from the unit itself it looks the same there is no obvious sunlight sensor on the dash for sure , not all systems have one anyhow

Rich, did you ever find an answer to this problem?

it is possible, not with just a panel

I know someone with a Jetta that did it but you need a donor car as there are so many parts that need to be changed
