Boot will only open by fob

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just been having a look around and not had much luck so hoping one of you might be able to help!

I have Superb S TDI 2009 and I'm having real trouble opening the boot. I can open part of the boot using the fob however not all of it.

Has anyone else ever come across this problem before?

Thanks in advance

Is this a twindoor model? Is there a specific way to handle the boot on these

If it is a Twindoor... don't forget you have to touch TWO buttons under the boot lid in order to raise the hatch.

Open small boot lid

› Press on the handle at the bottom side of the boot lid and the boot

lid lifts up automatically.

Close small boot lid

› Pull down the boot lid and close it with a slight swing. The bonnet locks automatically.

The small boot lid can also be opened by pressing the button on the remote

control key for approx. 1 second.

A handle which makes the closing easier is located on the inner panelling of the

boot lid.

The large boot lid can be opened after unlocking the vehicle.

Open large boot lid

› Press the handle on the bottom edge of the boot lid.

› Wait until the brake light in the rear window flashes twice.

› Press the handle and simultaneously lift up the boot lid.

If the second stage will not work, I.e you press the right hand button and the brake light won't flash it might be a fault with the switch in the lower latch. Check to see if the flap has come adrift.

Hi, Also make sure what setting you have the door opening on, If its on single door where you have to blip the remote twice this can cause this problem, you have to remember only blipping the key once only opens the drivers door and nothing else, so the boot wont open at all, unless you use the key fob, just like when all the doors are lock, you have to blip it twice to open all the doors then the boot will open of the buttons, I got caught out by this and took me ages to understand what was going on and that you needed to open all the doors to use the boot on its buttons.

If you set the car to open all doors on a single blip the boot will also open on the button's, whilst I understand the idea of the single door, when you've got a 2 kids, a trolley full of shopping and whinging wife moaning about still being locked out of the car the all door setting is a lot more convenient not to say peaceful!

The door opening can be changed in the convenience settings on the MFD, not like the old Superb which you had to go to the dealer with, which I nearly did with my new Superb until I stumbled upon the instructions whilst reading the manual.

Hope that helps. If not I have read about a problem with the hatch boot switch causing a problem but not sure what it was so might be worth searching this site again, I did notice on my car a Skoda dealer sticker in the wheel well to say it had had a Boot Switch mod so might be worth looking into.
