Paint flaking off :

Featured Replies

As above discovered it last night on the rear section of my rear o/s wheel arch....

Its quite disgusting to think that 56plate car would do this nowadays!!

Anyone else had this problem and if so were skoda uk helpful?

Ive got an extended warranty that runs out at the end of the month but i dunno if that will cover it :-(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

cheers glynn

Its a bit big for a paint chip its about an inch long and halfinch high

Going to fish brothers skoda in a bit to try and wangle something

Ill keep an eye out for rust aswell then!!

I'm sure they'll claim it to be a stone chip since it's in a vulnerable area. Check your sills too. Stone chip paint isn't high enough on pre FL cars.

You will get rust if you failed to notice a Stone chip or damage & repair it, then only notice it once you see rust.

Have you gone through the Corrosion/holed panel Warranty procedures over the past 6 years?

Had the checks carried out at Services & any paint defects noted or dealt with?

They will certainly be able to see if the damage was something accidental that never got treated & touched up.

Other wise if its rust coming through from behind good paint, they will hopefully do a repair as a gesture

or if the Warranty covers it..

If the paint is coming off because of rust from moistue behind, be sure that is dealt with,

the panel treated with rust inhibitor and sealed, not just etched, filled, primed & painted.

How is all the rest of the car looking, any other bits of corrosion to show them?

george

Got a photo of the damage/issue? Might be a bit easier to advise then.

Have you had the car from new?

Could the rear quarter have been repaired / repainted in the past?
