Can someone check their rear shock top mounts please

Featured Replies

I was looking at my rear shock top mounts yesterday (don't ask) and rather unusually each mount is only held in place with one bolt. There are 2 bolt holes on the mount, but only one has a bolt in!

According to here

http://elsaweb.spaghetticoder.org/doc/C.en-GB.S00.5703.00/33483966/3

there should be 2 bolts holding them in place, and these should be replaced when a shock is removed and refitted.

So, do you have two or one?

Anyone got the part number for the bolts, and whilst they are at it, for the pinch bolt and nut for the front hub for a 55mm front strut?

Should be two bolts, one each side of the strut.

LOL - I've never had the rear shocks off and it was full main dealer service history when I bought it.

Looks like 2 have been 'lost' then at some point. Or were never there in the first place!

Do you recommend replacing the mount when the shocks are changed?

Not normally required no.

the two bolts are probably hidden by the plastic wheel arch protector

As willydog has said, one of the bolts will be hidden behind the plastic liner. As well as the 2 bolts there are holes there that don't have any bolts going to them!

I panicked when I saw that last week when the wheels were off the clean and re-seat the brakes.

That looks like mine LOL - I just assumed one was missing!

Unless when trying to remove one on each side snapped off, this happend on mine, i had to weld and head the end to get the remaining threads out as the end was rusted and expanded so wouldnt undo

GlD I came across this thread. I thought I was missing 2 as well!
