strange wiper movement when i remove my key after a drive.

Featured Replies

I'm not sure what its trying to do, but when I remove my key the wipers fidget slightly when my key is pulled out?! Its happened since I've bought it but I really don't know what it is!?

Secondly, my cornering fogs don't work even though their activated in my maxi dot options, and when I put it in reverse it doesn't come up with the parking display on my Bolero ...any ideas?

:-)

I plan on taking it to my local dealer and asking them to sort that out plus a niggle with a faulty heated mirror and possibly my heated rear screen...humm

I also believe my front bumper has a slight bubble in the paint! And my passanger seat has frayed at only 15k!?

I am still in love with my car though! I'm just glad I've got a warranty I could use!

Don't worry about the wiper, it just shifts its rest position slightly every other time you use them, or take the key out. It's just a little design feature to prevent them sticking to the windscreen if you don't use them for a long time.

I remember briefly watching the Audi Channel on Sky a few years ago and they showed a feature on the A3 where the wipers did this to that they didn't develop flat spots on the blades -the idea being that they never settle in quite the same position, don't know if this is a feature common to the Octavia

Wiper movement is correct and standard. It's a system to park the wipers in alternate positions as if they have either just swept down the screen or about to sweep up the screen.

This way, over time, they do not adopt the traditional slant on the rubber blade caused by being always parked having just swept down, thus extending their life and ability to sweep smoothly.

So simple but really clever IMHO.

PS: Same system is used on Yeti and probably Superb.

That's an interesting feature! Thanks for the heads up.

I was worried they'd slowly move higher and higher!

thanks for posting.

i have the same problem on my audi a3 8p MY09.

was gonna take it to the main dealer.

I enabled the cornering fogs (via VCDS) on my vRS as I live in a rural area and it is a handy function, only thing I'm not sure about is that it also seems to illuminate them if you select reverse.

Yeah that's a deliberate feature too, though god knows why.
