1.9 PD 105 hp 60,000 Miles service

Featured Replies

Hi,

Superb 1.9 TDI PD 105 60, 000 Miles Service

Just interesting how much does it cost –dealer price not garage?

What we change?

1 Cambelt

2 Water pump ( It is 3 bolt unscrew job how much dealer price for this work?)

3 “Generator belt or how we call” (Before you access cambelt you need to take off this belt so it must be free on this price?)

4 Oil + oil filter

5 Fuel Filter

6 Air Filter

7 Cabin Filter

8 Brake disk and pads (If the pads still ok DO I need to change? )

9 Break fluid ? (I think I changed on 36 000)

is it anything else I forgot to mention ?

Just interesting what we change 60 000 miles service and the price

Thanks

Cambelt interval is 80k

or 4 years - I am told by my garage mine is due next year (1.9 Greenline- 52k)

Incidentally my service last month cost me half what the dealer charges - and my local garage uses genuine VAG parts and longlife oil. However I am considering going over to annual services rather than variable as my mileage is now only 12k a year and there will be a cost saving in the oil!

I know that garage is cheaper - But this is cambelt job so I will not risk for garage: )

Anyway it is will be next year job - as before I think it is need to change at 60k

Why Im not driving to garage ( I can save from the service but):

1 If I need to sell my car everyone want to have dealer stamps (more easy to sell)

2 Dealer “I think they must be specialist for they cars“ they are more concentrate for they selling model then other ? or maybe wrong ?

3 Dealer warranties – don’t know in real life. But let’s say if cambelt brakes down after it was replaced. Dealer must take responsibilities for this as qualified mechanics done the job so LEGALY I think we must have quality for the job “we pay higher price for this or Im wrong”

If you're using a reputable garage that services your car to VAG specifications, and uses VAG approved parts, and stamps your service book properly then you won't have any problems. I have always used a 'private' garage for cambelt changes as they are much cheaper, provided they use quality parts, and their work is warranted. Like me you have the good old 1.9 engine which is well known by most reputable garages.

Using a dealer to change your cambelt (and water pump) is money wasted in my opinion. I only use a dealer where there is a warranty issue, and the only time I have needed that in my ownership of the Greenline was a pressure sensor for the DPF which was hanged without quibble.
