Bolero aux, cant get it to work!

Featured Replies

Help needed please

Just picked up my new Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSi SE today, as expected the aux was not activated. Have a genuine copy of VCDS (latest version) and have ticked the option for aux monitoring. On testing, aux option on radio still greyed out. When i preform an error log scan using VCDS with the aux cable plugged in the radio does not return any errors but when the aux cable is disconnected I get an open circuit error so i know the cable is working.

Have tried disconnecting the radio from battery to no avail, have alternated between cd and sd several time but the damn thing still has the aux option greyed out.

Have had the same issues with a colleagues car and his radios doing the same thing, anyone else had this problem or know a fix?

In my car with the aux socket in the jumbo box the aux button on the Columbus in my case will stay greyed out until you have an MP3, cd player of similar actually plugged into it. When it detects the player then the aux button will light up. I would think that the Bolero reacts similarly.

Hi Ian thanks for the reply, originally had the aux connected to my bluetooth kit with audio playing through that, when that didn't work i connected my iPhone directly using 3.5mm jack, didn't make a blinding bit of difference, aux still greyed out :(

Have you tried enabling it in - setup-media-activate aux input in the Bolero settings?

aux does not show up under setup.... am i missing something?

anyone else with any ideas?

There is a VCDS setting (I honestly can't remember what it is) but it reads "backwards". I do recall it says something about unauthorised access to the aux port though. Looks like it should be ticked, but if you tick it, Aux stays greyed out not matter what you have in the Bolero menu.

But as MetBlackRat says, check in the Bolero setup menu, (I think its under media). With the box unticked the Aux button will be greyed out. (Unlike the BT Audio one that only appears when it's ticked)

HTH

I had a similar problem when coding another members Bolero for aux input.

We coded the setting in VCDS for the Aux but it still didn't work, however their was an adjacent tick box (In the long coding helper) which had a description which we couldn't work out (Can't remember what it was) but when ticked on the off chance the aux sprung to life. Wish I'd taken a screen shot now!

Strange you have got this issue. Picked mine up 6 weeks ago and Aux is working fine. Why not make it the dealers problem?.

thanks guys, ill try the above again in vcds, failing that gonna head down to the dealers

The AUX input covers 2 options - the 3.5 mm jack socket and (if fitted) the MDI. You have to select which you are using in the Bolero menus. The AUX indicator on the Bolero display doesn't indicate whether AUX is activated, it stays greyed out until it detects something connected.

I can select my Aux (sans MDI) without anything be connected.

I have mine set to read from the MDI - it is greyed out when I disconnect the HDD. Maybe the 3.5mm jack doesn't have the sophisication to report whether anything is attached.

Something for the OP to consider though is that he may be trying to read from a non-exisrtent MDI.

Thanks for your help guys, seems rainbowfire was spot on, had ticked the wrong option in vdcs. "restrict access to aux" is the one that activated the aux in for anyone that may want to know

Cool. Glad to be of help. :)

Not sure if the labels you see in VCDS come from VCDS or the car. If it's VCDS, surely a simple "Aux Port active" with the tick-box would be easier to read?

Would have saved me a lot of headache if that was the case. Now ive got to work out how to install the cruise control lol :sun:

Ah, there are many many guides to that on here from what I've seen. (not had to have it done on mine ;) )
