Non-VRS Octavias

Featured Replies

Looking through the Octavia section, the conversations and photos seem to mainly be about VRS's.

Any other Octavia owners on here?

well theres me and lofty79

and me :hi:

yes? someone call? ah right, yes me.

1.9 tdi club replying here. were non pd though, vladsoilerofcarpets has a pd 130 lauren and klement

There are quite a few non Vrs Octys but the Vrs owners have more problems and like to uprate our cars more lol

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

It's probably because us diesels owners don't have problems with coilpacks or have an overwhelming urge to drive around scraping our bums on the floor.

Not just this, but many vRS owners CREATE more problems, quite often. :drunk:

Agreed. We do tend to mess more.

and late 90s and all the 110s seem to suffer from sticky vanes in the turbo. Plus now that winter is approaching, I expect to see a lot of posts about the free-wheel pulley on the alternators and broken aux bent tensioners. Certainly when mine broke, there was a whole flurry of other people with the same issues.

New owners arrived and say:

- my temperature gauge is all over the place

- the gauges on the dash drop to zero for a lot of the time

- my car leaks (rear footwells, door lips)

- my stereo can't get a radio signal

- my stereo sounds rubbish

- why does my (1.8t) run rough for the first few minutes

- what is the matter with my windscreen wipers

- my indicator relay is chattering like mad, but the lights don't flash

- my coolant low indicator (orange) is going off, but there is plenty of coolant in the system

- do I need the engine undertray on the car?

- where can I get an arm rest from?

Agreed. We do tend to mess more.

and vrs owners, well they just like to connect the coolant pipework up to the air intake

Don't want to be left out as I've 'only' got a PD140, but it is lower than standard Vrs's!

Done 116k and still going very strong!

PD140? Bugger off back to the Octy 2 section! :giggle:

This is a local forum for local people... there's nothing for you here!

And yes, non-VRSer here. There's plenty of us.

Well, the RS is the only one that VAG messed up by building in understeer in an attempt to reduce roll.

and me. just the old 1.8T AGU ,but still strong

1.9 octy diesel owner here. totally standard, and as reliable as nightfall

You could man  I can't help but feel sorry for the guy!

I'm driving a TDI 110 elegance. My girlfriends actually driving it this year as its only a 5 minute drive to uni for me so i'd rather walk. She previously drove a saxo 1.1 and all I can say is shes a much better driver now shes in my car. She can even, sort of, parallel park!
