Tappy noise

Featured Replies

Cars on 122k and I k ow the EGR need cleaning out, upon that the cars causing a tappy noise. Any ideas

there was a post not all that long ago about the tappets/engine getting noisey.... egr was mentioned but then someone went in with another (expensive!) idea what it could be... don't ask me where i read it though! (sorry not much help i know!)

try some hydraulic valve and lifter fluid in the oil, liquimoly is a good make

I tried that, no difference, I have had noisy tappets when it's cold for several years.

DB.

same here, but he didnt state the car only making the noise when its cold, if it makes the noise when warm too, it probably will work.

I get this if i only do short trips. A good long trash usually sorts it out!

lifter fluid would help, it also helps to clear turbo oil pipes and any narrow channels in the engine.

Yeah when it's cold it's noisy, when it's warm it fades but can still hear it slightly.

When can I get that fluid from mate, halfrauds??

Would you just leave the liquimoly in the engine untill the next service?? Or does it have to come out after a few miles
