Strange request

Featured Replies

Ok Ive decided on a Fabia vrs, hoping to start looking to buy end of oct.

Thing is, im 40 and ashamed to say I dont know anything about cars, i just enjoy driving them.

Is there a recommended way of getting a car checked over by someone? Or do any of you live in Portsmouth area and know more than me lol

Nowt wrong with not being to sure on cars mate! Have you got any mates in the mechanical trade?

Oh god, don't post here then, you'll end up spending a fortune on go-faster bits.

I'm sure someone with a better answer than me will be along soon

Are you after a Mk1 or Mk2 vRS?

I can recommend a couple of reliable VAG mechanics who would be able to provide an independant opinion/inspection. I may also be able to help depending on the location of the car. In 20 plus years of motoring I have laways purchased my cars priavely having checked the vehicles myself. Touch wood I have had no problems to date. The buying guides on here are also a good resource.

Would be mk1, and thanks, im in Fareham so will try to look at local cars 1st. Would love an se or leather as had a vrs in 05 but didnt have mucky fingers and child seats back then lol

I live in Cowplain and work in Fareham :) SE's seem to be thin on the ground in our area, most seem to be up North!

RAC will check over the car for a small fee :)

Ask the seller 1st for permission, if they say no then walk away as they may be trying to hide something.

Unsure if the RAC include a HPI check in this service, but its worth doing as well. Best buying one of the ones at £15 rather than the £3 text message ones as you have more comeback on the proper ones.

Better spending £15 now than not and finding the car has been a Categorised right off at some point in the time.
