Hard Starting (also ECU beep)

Sorry to keep bothering you guys with my issues. :)

One issue I'm going to get my service centre to hopefully look at properly this year. Don't fancy it deteriorating further in the middle of Winter

About two years ago when we have that long cold snap and heavy snow, my Furby had hitherto always fired on the first crank. I mentioned it but we put it down to the cold weather. It can take 8-10 cranks to fire regardless of OAT (outside air temp) but it does crank ok suggesting there is life in the battery yet?

Let's assume it hasn't had a fuel/air filter change for some time and the EGR hasn't been touched. In seven years of its eight year life under my tenure, the battery has not been changed.

Is there anything I can point them toward?

Also and maybe not related? Occasionally it three beeps after ignition. Could this be the ABS (?) issue needing a firmware update? IIRC I read here a while ago Skoda released a SB. It has always done this as far as I can remember.

I had this, engine would crank no bother, took 8 maybe 10 turnovers to start when cold, then great rest of day. Put in a more powerful battery and problem solved. Battery tested old one and it was ok. It just needed that bit more jui e to fire it up, got an 85 ah battery and now 1st turn even at 2 degrees this morning. Battery may seem fine but if its tired it it may need upgrading.

I would be inclined to check the glow plugs. Use a multi-meter to check for continuity. Will save taking them out!

85Ah - gotcha. Thanks Lofty. That had crossed my mind. Blimmin' expensive these days. I still have a rather tidy charger somewhere in the garage now sadly redundant.

I go to the scrappy and hunt through the pile of batteries and just find one that fits with the most amps. 20quid a pop, then go to a scrap metal merchant and get a tenner back for your old battery

Cam position sensor changed today and its much better. Is it me or does it seem a tiny bit more powerful now too?

We don't know... Can we come around and have a go to check it out?
