Sharp Practice

Just a word of warning, I know this will not catch many of you out... I have today had a couple of rear tyres fitted at Formula One, Doncaster. After the tyres were fitted I was presented with a print out and was told that my front wheels needed tracking as they were badly out of adjustment. I was asked if I wanted the work done there and then. This was not the case, the tracking is spot on, my front tyres lasted 45,000 miles and have worn evenly. I did not obviously have the tracking adjusted I did not even ask them to look at the tracking on the front or rear for that matter. One thing that they did miss was the fact my rear brake pads do need replacing, something I will do myself this weekend.

I wonder how many gullible people they have ripped off today?

Regards Monkster.

The comment is usually "the brake pads/discs look a bit worn" . . .

'ain't a mechanic, but it strikes me one would have to "do" the tracking in order to be in a position to say the car needs tracking?

I stick with my local independent tyre specialists. Had bad experience with F1 some years ago and never intend to deal with them again.

I might pay a couple of quid more for my tyres at the indy but I can stand there and watch what is done. More than worth it!

Dave

I had a full Hunter check done a couple of months ago and I know all my angles are perfect. So any new tyres would come with a "please don't touch anything else on the car, it's perfect thank you".
