Braking At High Speed

Featured Replies

I have a question for those of us who have taken their vRS on an airfield or other road where 130 MPH plus is reachable. When you apply the brakes, I assume you would need to do it in a progressive manner to avoid uneven braking and what I expect would be a fair bit of kangarooing, or even fishtailing. What can be done to mitigate this sort of behaviour?

I only ask because I've been asked to go to a RWYB day, and I've never taken my car to anything approaching those speeds.

wrc wing and stiffer suspension helps.. its not that unstable a car... but with them its rock solid from 150 - 0

It depends if you need to stop very quickly or just lower the speed a little.

But its better to brake hard for a short time than to drag the brakes a longer time.

The car will not be unstable but can go a little to the left or right.

Just dont brake hard while turning at high speed.

Well not unless you know what you're doing ;)

or you want to get the tail round.

(relevent info - lots of weight out back, DSC2500's up front, standard pads on back :D)

Paul,

Is the WRC Wing supplied by Butts ?? what is the quality like ? (there was an old thread that said they needed an enormous amount of work in the bodyshop to make them usable).

What is the current cost ?

Thanks

Graham

mine seems ok.. doesnt quite line up perfect but not so you would notice... a little rippley across the top but for 200 quid who cares?
