At Last...... Bolero and SD sorted!

Featured Replies

After 3 years of frustration with the SD card slowness in reading, several requests for it to be sorted and been fobbed off saying it was the quality of the card it now has been :)

My car has been into Mitchell's for the last 3 days (had to put up with a fabia 1.2... slower than the bolero!!) for my last chance on getting some warranty work completed and its first MOT. It had been booked in 2 weeks ago but they failed to tell us it was going in for a few days which was not possible as I was due to go on holiday.

1. SD card slowness in reading

2. Windscreen renewed (de-laminated at the bottom)

3. Handbrake slider cover (sticking handbrake)

4. rear skoda badge worn

5. rear sill cover (part of flap in front of rear tyre) I swear was damaged on my last visit for a service in August.

So my SD card now flies, instantly reading or as near as.... it has taken a call to Skoda to find out there is a patch for this yet the VCDS says the firmware is up to date

thanks to Kev and Matt at Mitchell's Ellesmere Port

And finally I was so glad to get the remap back on the car after 3 weeks... 2 days in a fabia I will miss the MPG and absolutely nothing else

Glad to see you finally got it sorted well done.

Glad you got it sorted, specially the SD problem.

I have the same issue. Can you give me more info regarding the fix you had done pls?

I only wish I could be more specific.... over 2 years I has said to Mitchell's at service time it was slow reading... all I got back as a reason from them was: -

1. quality of SD card (class 10)

2. the size of SD card (8gb) they said only 4gb was recommended, strange how the manual states upto 32gb???

3. amount of data (presently 6gb of the 8gb)

4. your firmware is up to date

5. VCDS doesn't show any fault

6. you can save to the harddrive (where, how....? they couldn't answer either)

I insisted that I had tried the SD card in my bro-in-laws Tiguan which has the VW version of the bolero and it read instantly, I mentioned this forum and how others have had firmware or patches done. I have formatted the SD with the bolero SD organizer app found on this forum http://www.lfsv.dk/diverse/bolero.php

So Kev the technician contacted Skoda and was told that there was no known issue (?) or fix but try this patch.. so my recommendation is contact Matt at Mitchell's to get the details on 0151 3475412. They had the same issue on their demo car and that is now fixed, as they installed on that first. I can't believe that Skoda haven't released a service/tech bulletin whatever they call it for this?

thanx matey, i'll get them to speak to him :)

I asked jewsons of Oxford who told me theyd never heard of any ptoblems previously that they needed to update to version 56/57/whatever it was, informed them that they might need to ring skoda and sent them a link to a thread on this forum (this was all back in June when I bought my car). Left them with it for an hour or so and they rang back to say its been done. I use. 32GB class 10 Samsung card which I got cheap off play or somewere (£17.99 IIRC) and have never had any problems at all........
