Cat Back Exhaust - Worth It ?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Looking at getting a new exhaust but after a little reading have discovered going for a cat back system is basically just for noise.

Is this the case on the fabia vrs if choosing a 2.5" cat back system ?

My main aim is NOT alot of noise but have a more free flowing exhaust with a change is noise when making progress really.

Thank you for any help,

Go for the piper silencer-less cat back.

Or you could just go for a Mufflerectomy which will be a 3rd of the cost :)

I'm very pleased with mine. Quiet until you floor it!

I'll agree!

I love my piper!!

My piper Turbo back single Silencer is being fitted Tues :)

Was going to get a powerflow made up which allows some "choice"

Will de cat with a back box obtain a "normalish" noise under commuting conditions but scream when the loud pedal is used in anger ?

I would go for a decat first... I've got a full milltek turbo back with decat, wish I did it years ago. Pulls soo much better at the bottom end.

Just been looking on Youtube and it seems by leaving the cat in place but removing the back box a fairly nice note can be achieved. Is the backbox there to silence or does it serve another purpose ?

Don't expect much peak bhp from a full system. My stage 1 with a hybrid made about 0.6bhp more after fitting a piper decat 1 silencer lol.

Although once mapped it was up to 218bhp, but still, on a stage 1 you won't peak much higher although you should notice a mid/low range kick as you'll get a quicker spool up.

Plus it'll sound nice ;)
