New fabia II vRS on order.. Ideas needed!

Featured Replies

Hi there

I recently ordered a brand new Fabia II vRS (hopefully to the dealer for the first week of December) and I've been looking at some excellent examples on here.

I'm only 19 and the insurance has been very kind to me so far and has been the only reason I am able to afford getting this as my second car, with that in mind the insurance quotes received also allow me some "minor" modifications for example non original filters, suspension lowering below 50mm, front spoiler/splitter and rear splitter.

At the moment with insurance and money, engine specific mods will have to wait but definitely there for the future.

I was just wondering without hopefully missing a previous topic about any ideas people could give? I was looking especially at the front and rear splitters and which ones fitted the fabia II vRS and how they are fitted.

Thanks guys!

  • Ha. I just got my vRS comprehensively insured for $28,000 Australian for a total of $450. Since this meant I was getting a refund on my 2yo Focus (which had slight modifications), I rang them up again

You will have facelift version so there is a front spliter but not a back i am aware off. Make sure it is post 2011.

Superskoda will give you an idea of wots about

Welcome to the forum.

Enjoy the car when you get it.

Are you sure on the Mods that your Insurance Underwriter will allow,

did you get told that by the Broker about Suspension or is it written in a Policy Booklet,

or they have already accepted a Declaration Sheet, with Mods like that, on your car now?

I have good Insurance for Modified vehicles, and also cover for Under 24 YO Drivers,

but i have not had cover that allowed Under 24's to drive Modified Vehicles for about 4 years now.

Thanks for the replies!

Regarding the spoliers.. I had seen that on superskoda and always an option for the future so thanks for the heads up on them!

Only really looking at ideas and regarding when I stated that the insurance "allowed" the modifications I declared on the quote, I just selected under which fields I would possibly modify from the original specification, but also including ticking the optional extras that I thought applied which was only the optional alloys.

Other than that I selected the above filters, suspension and spoilers.. and came out at £20 more than the original quote. It was only an internet quote at best so wasn't talking to an advisor about the modifications but made sure about the optional extras as i've known people to have been voided by having put optional extra alloys on after having the car without.

And also stability control systems as a optional extra too

Stability Control is not an optional extra on a vRS.

Can i ask what sort of prices you are being quoted on-line.?

Best speak with a specialist broker & get quotes for prices on Insurance that will be liable to get accepted when you fill in a Proposal.

This might be a useful link, http://www.vwspares....roducts_id=1141

However I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm and hope you get a good one.

Yeah I've read many topics on oil and many theories behind it but it won't dampen the enthusiasm don't worry! But for one thing I'm picking mine up from the dealer and not letting some tom, **** or harry throttle it for it's first 100 mile to my house!

Even with the issues my car has, I must say it is really good fun to drive and I would have another.

I collected my car too and it h as only done 4k miles, on the plus side my mate bought one 6 months later and it uses very little oil and he canes it!

Or just find the cheapest quote online and go with I without phoning 'specialised' companies and talking for an age to be told yes we can do it sir that'll be £4000!

So I would not need to declare it as it's standard with the vRS?

And i'm being quoted around £750-825 on the standard quotes and £850 with the ticked modifications.

I understand what you say about specialist brokers with acceptance. I mean with my age and the age the car will be I may not even get around to modifying it for a couple of years but I was just surprised that the quotes were such a similar price.. to then think if or not they'd be accepted after a declaration.

If you could get that price now it would be worth grabbing it.

Sadly i think your Website has made an error.

Your Date of Birth is possibly Wrong, or they got something wrong , 'Passed test 2 years', '2 years NCB' ?? Is that right?

or

the Vehicle is wrongly Recognised,

not a £14000- £15,000 vRS, 1390cc 178bhp etc etc

Have you ordered a car?

My youngest is now down to that sort of money after years of driving.

few points and stuff, but paid big money untill now.

I have done every detail to the book legitimately main driver etc etc.

And yes other cars in similar categories are like £2000 and but i've had the £700-800 quotes of at least 5 companies. And I can't yet insure a car I haven't got but I have ordered it and should be picking it up in the first week of December apparently.

I have been getting these quotes for about 8 months now, and only once has it been £2000+ but then comes back down a couple of days later

It's not wrong mate! I pay less than £500 and I'm 23 with 2 years NCB, I managed to talk my mate into getting a polo GTI. After paying £2000 on a 10 year old fiesta he got a £14k polo for less than £1000 insurance and he's 19 with claims!

I have no NCB 19 YO and passed 2 years.. I "shouldn't" be quoted so cheap.. but 8 months worth of quotes and the proof is there.. Sorry if this might blind a few people's eyes.. but I was going to get a Corsa VXR for £1100 a year insurance but then I found the Fabia and what an excellent choice I made! :)

Dead right and faster lol !!

At the moment I have bought some interior accessories and a private plate for her, but thinking about it regarding mods.. It would be sensible to drive it a couple of years before having them done.. especially performance enhancing mods.

But love the examples on this forums.. been quite taken by the engine cover painting I have to admit! But just want a few little tweaks on it to make it a little more personal :)

Get all mods done at once an you'll only pay one fee each mod is £X + admin fee so for example my springs were £20 odd and £17.50 admin fee.

I'll bet the insurance companies that are quoting u cheap are admiral, elephant etc so are quite good with mods as long as you don't change the whole engine lol

  • Author

Are they? Yeah my cheapest is through Bell via Admiral :) I hear you about the once off mod changes with admin fees so thanks for the heads up.

Even the remap was only £70, for the money u save over getting an equivalent car on insurance you an afford to modify it to what you want :)

  • Author

Ahh that will prove helpful for the future then if I do get around to engine tweaks

im 23 6 years NCD and renewal on 29th of this month and have been quoted £327 quid. £30 quid more expencive then a 1.1 saxo

Haha that is unreal! fair play though :-) I'm not quite sure how i'm going to cope with having to wait another 10 weeks after already having it ordered for 6.. although reading on here that people have been waiting for much longer at times.. but i've gone for Race Blue with the dark chrome alloys  hoping to paint the engine cover and bulb upgrades interior and exterior first off so nothing major

Insurance quotes sound about right, im 19 amd declered all my mods and its juat over 900
