  • Even with the issues my car has, I must say it is really good fun to drive and I would have another. I collected my car too and it h as only done 4k miles, on the plus side my mate bought one 6 mont

  • Ha. I just got my vRS comprehensively insured for $28,000 Australian for a total of $450. Since this meant I was getting a refund on my 2yo Focus (which had slight modifications), I rang them up again

21, 2 years driving, 1 year no claims, 1 crash declared (none fault) mods declared £2060 one off payment...manchester postcode for you :|

23, 2 years experiance and NCB, all mods declared, ITG, Varex & TMC Box... 550 a year.

38, over 9 years no claims, no mods 1.4Fabia vRS, Business usage - all comes to £247 inc legal cover and NCB protection with £310 excess based on £250 voluntary with Admiral. Sometimes it pays off to be an old fart with a wife :D.

I tried with mods - exhaust, engine chip11-25%, filters, intercooler and they couldn't quote me online lol.

I wonder what is the cheapest post code in the land as far as insurance is concerned?

EDIT:

Answered my own question

I've heard west Scotland is supposed to be the cheapest in the UK but that could be all talk

doubt it, glasgow is in the west and insurance is really high there although some of the other areas in the west are fancy areas so you never know

Sounds good with all the similar insurance quotes you've all had, especially with mods declared! So if I was going to go down the modification road.. where would you suggest I started?

I'm not looking to get my car from day 1 run it in and then strap a tmc box and induction kit to it to get over 200. I would be tempted by lowering and exhaust.. but nothing on the bodywork. I'm a complete newbie to all of this so my apologies from the start!

Defo lower it soon as, makes aassive diffrence to looks and handling

Yeah I'd be well up for lowering her.. but with the roads and living partly into the countryside.. I would be aware of not lowering it excessively..

Any recommended products and/ or tips?

And replace the shocks aswell, then you'll have both handling AND comfort!

Tires will make a massive difference aswell along with brakes, then you'll have proper handling!

Just waiting for the bushings to see how big off difference they make along with the springs/dampers that I use (Weitec GT).

Those are the dampers and springs that I use. Have a friend who have a RS and he got shocked over how good it rides aswell as corners!

I live in a countrysidey kinda place and tbh its not that bad unless the road is really bad, theres a lowering thread on here with pictures of all the diffrent options if you have a search

I live in the sticks as well and found the eibach springs to be fine a little harder than stock but not too crashy

cheers Confide for that.. exactly what I need! I had it in my head about 30mm and nothing over really.. ideal!

And also yeah I will search for the lowering thread now, thanks

I can add some pictures to give you an idea what 18"*8" with ET45 and 225/35/18-tires would look like.

Just had a good read through the threads.. and as above the Weitec 30mm kit looks interesting as well as the 312 brake upgrade

That looks really awesome and I LOVE the wheels you've got her on mate! So is that on the Weitec 30mm kit.. just looks closer to the arches with the 18"s

Just pray not to hit a pothole while in full lock :wall:

@confide

I like the way you meticulously blacked out your reg plate on your own pictures but let it show on that last one B)

Really wouldn't want it running that close.. the potholes around here.. well put it this way there isn't much road left!

Decided to not bother with blanking the plate anymore...

Everybody already knows who I am xD!

Thanks for the positive comments...

Potholes aren't that big off a problem, just going SLOW :p.

Gonna widen the arches abit aswell ;).

  • 1 month later...

havnt posted on here in a long time myself (keep browsing tho) but those insurance prices you've got up here just made me have to comment..

just about to renew insurance on my vrs, im 23 with 4 years no claims.. with Bell and paying in full, for 10 months only, £995.. admiral, who i am currently with, sent me a lovely quote of £1270 which is £100 more than last years price... FML.. BB postcode for ya, apprently rated "C" on the link provided by Jabozuma ¬_¬

I have since gotten lower quotes again. My car was on build week 45 so hopefully 3 weeks until pick up (Can't wait!) and got saved quotes for £681 for 12 months, 19 years old, no ncb, 2 years experience and a bash declared. On a postcode with a B rating as well which helps I suppose.

what a joke insurance is over here, there was quite a bit of insurance fraud going on in the last 2 years here too, more than likely what my problem is. everybodys insurance has gone up a few hundred instead of down.

id love to see a quote that low, for myself :(

  • Author

Yeah although I am really liking the quotes I am getting, new low just now £663, I really don't understand where some of these figures come from. With the male/female bias supposedly balancing out, I haven't heard or seen of any proof of it already happened. Just hope the price goes down for you soon! But I know its going to make me enjoy the car even more than I would already.. more pennies to spend on V-Power!

i practically save all year just to pay my renewal price :o

if anything the prices wont balance out, instead they'll just go higher for women and not change for the guys.

ive never put vpower in mine and ive had it 18 months :o
