Back to the Tyre fitters tommorow

Featured Replies

Ever since i,ve had the Zeniths on my car and 2 new Kumho,s fitted they are constantly losing air by about 10psi every fortnight.I called them and they said they will sort it for me tommorow but i hope they are not badly corroded. The wheels came off a 2006 VRS so i wouldn,t be expecting too much corrosion.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Not sealed to the rim properly, or it could be the valves leaking. You can tighten the core of the valve yourself - I have had a couple with slow leaks due to a valve core that just needed pinching up a little.

Thanks andyvee. They were new valves fitted which i thought were leaking so tightened them up a little but didn,t help.I guess they will have to clean the inner edges of the rims i suppose?

You mean they didn't anyway? No wonder they are leaking.

Did they use plenty of sealant on the inner edge when they fitted the tyres?

I was watching them very carefully when they did fit the tyres as i was worried about them damaging the rims but i didn,t see them clean up the insides. It was a very busy day there and they have only 1 lad that fits all the tyres and then 1 to balance and then 1 to fit them.

I.ll watch them like a hawk tommorow. They gave me a 6 month warranty.

So they have 3 men to do in essence one job?

Just got back from Tyre place and the new valves fitted were leaking due to corrosion where they sit in wheel and also the inner edges of rims were corroded so they have buffed them up too with 2 more new valves fitted. Cost me nothing.

But did notice when front wheels were off that I have a leaking o/s/f strut which I'll need to get done before the MOT in November. Not happy about that as its probally Bournemouths speed bumps that's killed it :(
