Fabia's proper tall and the seat's on stilts!

Featured Replies

I was parked next to a Volvo estate the other day. On returning to the car, I noticed that the Volvo was lower than the Monte.

That's on the lower "sports" supsension (wow - a whole 15mm lower).

It's taller than Mrs PDIBK's golf and most other cars. I persume that short of fitting lowered springs, this isn't changing - it's just a high roofline.

The other issue I have is that I've realised the seats are really high up - it feels like driving a van, especially after anything else (Golf in particular). Is there any way of lowering the seats? I don't want to fork out on buckets, but are the seat rails unnecessarily bulky or something?

Anyone else noticed this?

It is why some of us buy or bought them.

Seating position suits & easy in, easy out & you can wear a Top Hat..

VW Polo looks lower and so does the seat, the sill is a PITA IMO

Why else would you buy such an ugly car.other than the suitability for the infirm to get easy access.

Does your seat not lower with adjustment?

Yes, but no lower than me sitting 5 ft off the floor.

I bought it for brand loyalty - also trade in from Skoda to Skoda was better than Skoda to anything else.

I love the car, but it just feels comically tall and I feel as if I sit ON the car, not in it...like I'm seated on a soap box.

Well I can tell you thatI was amazed how much of a difference did the H&R's make on the vRS's look, I fell in love all over again the moment I saw it standing lowered. Night and day. And I am not the typical guy who lowers his cars, never had done this before. Not to mention the improved handling afterwards.

I also agree that I bought it for reasons other than it's height tbh, so couldn't deal with it, but as I said, springs solve this easily.

I'm softening more and more to the idea of lowering. It definitely would look better lowered. As long as it doesn't stop me carrying my kayak and all the fishing gear that goes with it and passengers then fine. If it's rubbing bumps I'm not interested

Didn't you see the car before you buy? :giggle:

I have somewhere a pic of my rear right wheel, after the H&Rs were fitted and 4 people inside (although 3 of them were women which didn't weigh more than 150 kg all together...), will post it If I find it today.... Chav look to be honest but that was a one-off.

Perhaps a suggestion to Skoda to update their website so that you can view any model parked against any other vehicle just in case they clash?

Fabia MkII is just a bubble car! I would rather have a 12 plate Fabia MkI any day...

Some do tend to sit a bit high, but a black roof can help give an illusion of being lower.

Not always tho.

I had seen Fabias in isolation - never really paid too much attention.

Then I got one and it kind of creeps up on you.

I have a black roof - it still reminds me slightly of a Suzuki WagonR...

I'll have a peek at lowering. Maybe at a year old, or the first service, I'll make some changes. Or think about changing it...

I've lowered mine, bumper is quite close to the floor and the comedy arch gap has now disappeared, but the car still looks tall, due to it having high sides and a narrow body.

Lowered mine too....vast improvement in looks and handling. Do it!
