Value of my felicia?

Featured Replies

This is not a for sale thread btw, im not looking to sell the car yet, but i am considering sometime within the next 12 months.

Im just looking for some opinions on the value of my car as i have no idea what its worth, im hoping more than a standard felicia though.

R-reg 1998 facelift

1.6 8v - 67k

resprayed in black roughly two years ago paintwork is decent (only slight surface rusting from when i had bigs wheels which rubbed the arches)

Very light damage to the front bumper and wing ( i would probably sell a front and rear bumper from a body kit i brought along with it)

Front coilovers

rear coilovers

bigger front calipers and discs

rear discs and calipers instead of standard drums

bigger master cylinder

back box (not loud)

k&N induction kit.

rear spoiler

smoothed boot and smoothed rear door handles

fully debadged

Rear tints

clear side repeaters

Hi, quite a nice distinctive looking little Felly. Difficult however to value in the current market, let alone future prediction. If it was running standard I'd say £300 to £500. Think yours could fetch a little more value but it remains a difficult market and the look/spec may only appeal to a more limited buying group ;)

i would say £800 as thats what mine is worth with it having air con i am going butto break mine when that time comes as it will keep another felicia on the road but with the added air con conversion know how with the parts need

The perception of what something's worth and what it can actually achieve in the open market are often two quite separate things. It's something you often see with Fun owners who may feel their car is worth x and gradual realisation leads them to y, which in truth is what people are prepared to pay. Anyway stick with the Felly, something with a bit of age & character & in your case good looks ;)

Cheers lads. Looks like i may be selling sooner than i thought though. Yeah i can imagine there will be a limited buying group haha

Just bought my 1999 1.3L mpi manual with 53k on the clock from a dealer for £650.

It's very good cosmetically, inside and out. Candy White paint job.

No aircon, remote central locking or electric anything - very basic.

I probably paid too much for it but it just seemed like a really nice car and my son's been running a Pacific model for several years and had little or no trouble with it.

Does seem to be getting through the fuel a bit, though, which is worrying as I bought it as a local runabout to spare my LR Disco TD5 which punishes me at the pumps for short journeys. My son says his is very economical - and he's a student. I bought him a new set of (budget) tyres recently which he says has made a big difference; maybe I need to do the same?

But when I was getting insurance quotes some systems drop in a value which they claim comes from a trade values database.

I got values of £95 and £350 - work that one out!

Hi,

nu99et18 - When I said 'limited buying group' I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. It's just like my lads lowered, alloy wheeled etc Golf that he can't sell for £500 - £600. I think standard spec tends to appeal to a wider market and hence an improved sale potential.

Feliciaman - Your Felly sounds nice and yes perhaps the price was towards the top end, but sometimes what price a good car! My 1.3 MPI was pretty economical so it would be worth checking that side of it out. Check/verify your running temp and have a look at the plugs to see how she's running. I think tyre pressures tend to have more influence than tread?

Thanks robk1.

Good points, both of which I ended up having to cover very soon after buying the car, as I explained in this thread:

http://www.briskoda....gauge-sluggish/

Temp now behaving itself but haven't taken plugs out to check condition as the coil unit clamped on to them is a bit strange. I think I'll take a look at them tomorrow.

Tyres are quite low, so they are probably due to be changed sooner rather than later.

i have all the parts to make mine standard spec but that would be a L spec BUT full SLXi aircon but i would prob break it so some one could air con theres up

What would you want for the aircon parts, then, uma1998 - is your car no longer a runner?

I bought four new boots for my car y/day - just budget tyres from City Tyres of Norwich - £140 all in. Brand new, not part-worn or any of that rubbish. Not bad, eh? Seems to be running nicely and steering's always lighter with fresh tyres.

Just added a courtesy light delay circuit - less than a fiver on fleabay - and replaced the pathetic 5w bulb with a 10w unit - can't use an LED replacement with a dimmer afaik. Little things, that just make the car work that little bit better.

P.

you can use a led if you use a skoda delay unit the air con will only fit a 1.6 as its on the engine loom and to the ecu and fan power steering makes it lighter on steering see is still running but drinks oil but rebuilding another aee lump doner car had 3 lady owners and engine not serviced as much engine only done 65k

What rear disc brake set up did you use. Is it just bolt on.

Used mk3 golf gti rear stub axles, carriers and calipers with mk2 golf gti discs all bolts on no problem. Only need a spacer on the handbrake.
