I've had that too. I was too shocked to do anything.

Like being savaged by a dead sheep.

Apparently they are very quick off the mark :0

The driver was probably trying to recharge the battery or give it an Italian tune up! Even green cars need to be given a treat like this now and again lol!

Maybe they're being ironic..?

Hate the new advert... "what do you call one when it turns into more?". Still crap, fellas!

It's probably a company car.

A couple of Prius around here are taxi's and since when have taxi drivers done the speed limit!! :D

If you want to drive around as fast as a Prius can go, get an M3, you'll get an extra 2 mpg :)

Top Gear consumer advice :)

I was following one down outside lane of M1 yesterday and he was proper spanking it,

Its not the first one that i've seen spanking it on motorway either

So people who have fast cars have to drive fast everywhere do they?

So people who have fast cars have to drive fast everywhere do they?

Not necessarily. I would say people with slow cars have to. I used to absolutely cain it down motorways in my old audi 80 1.9 tdi :p I'm much more careful with the vRS :p

They have something to prove.

Lets face it, you don't see a Prius and think "look at that good old old chap, doing his best to protect the environment".

I tend to think "why on earth have you spent your hard-earned on a car that uses more of the earth's resources to produce than it will ever save by being slighty more efficient".

It's image naiviety, people jut think its a hybrid an therefore is no more harmful to the environment than a bicycle

The electrics do absolutely nothing on the motorway -might as well rag it. Probably owned for tax reasons rather than the driver's conscience.

lucky you we get loads pootling about at 18mph keeping the petrol off, i hate them

Could have been an emergency or something?

Don't see people in 'hot' cars flooring it everywhere though do we?

My brother has an Auris Hybrid which I think is a prius in a different frock and he doesn't hang around in it. It's a company car and he has a fuel card so he's not bothered about mpg, just drives how he drives. I'm sure I get better economy from the furby.

Sure it wasn't an unmarked cop car? Believe it or not there's one in Leeds lol

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

Could well be some poor sod forced to take one as a company car so the company can brag about its green credentials.

By thrashing it to death the fuel consumption will be higher than his previous proper car so maybe they won't force him to have a 2nd one.

They have 4 sizes of prius over here in the States. They are advertised all the time on tv. Very common on the roads on the mainland. Here in Hawaii a green lifestyle is widely advocated yet they all bomb about in dirty great V8 and V6 engined cars and trucks. I was honestly expecting it to be all Fiat 500s, Prius, hybrid cars and old vw campers. They are so concerned about what they dump into the sea yet they pollute their own air with all these gas guzzlers. Hypocrites...

The only time i can see the point of a hybrid would be if you lived and worked in and around London as it lets you dodge the congestion charge. If not then a diesel has better mpg and performance.

Probably a company car. At least we get the choice - car allowance or company car. They are slowly trying to force people down the company car route though so when im eventually forced into one i will treat it like crap and drive it accordingly. Might end up being quite liberating driving around and not having to worry about tyre wear, body work and alloy damage or generally have no mechanical sympathy whatsoever i.e rag it from cold. The only downside is the choice of cars is pants - the usual fords and vauxhalls, yuk.

The prius in question would benefit the driver from very low company car tax bills each month so if i was him i may pick one also over a mondeo. The day that decision is mine i will be in tears.

My dad was told he'd have to have one as a company car, but then luckily they changed their minds and gave him a choice. He went with a 2.0tdi golf with bluemotion tech, and he gets 60 to the gallon. Much better than he'd get from a pooey prius

I'd be overtaking people bimbling along the road too, even in the unlikely event I was driving a Prius :D

And even then, it's a moving goal post. Didn't they remove the congestion charge exemption for the older Priuses a couple of year's back? FWIW, my last diesel was also congestion charge exempt and no VED.
