Wheel alignment

Featured Replies

Hi all,

so my vRS is now 4 weeks old and is pulling to the left more than just for the camber of the road. So I take it to the dealer (Poole) to see if its something they can resolve. I'd already checked the tyre pressures.

So they take a look and find that there is a chunk out of the inside of the near side alloy. Ahh I say, I haven't hit any debris, pothole, kerb, etc.. Let me speak with the missus. I think you know where this is going :-)

She's driven just approx 50 miles of the 1,200 miles on the car and yes, in that short time she remembers hitting a raised mini roundabout she hadn't noticed until too late. The one near Loch Fyne at Canford Cliffs Village if you're wondering. It is quite an obstacle if you hit it at 20 not the usual raised paint of a normal mini roundabout.

Anyway, I need to get the car aligned. Would a simple tracking procedure on the front axle fix the issue (I.e. assume that the rear is fine as the car is so new?) I guess I'm just trying to avoid some sort of expensive laser alignment. Could anyone recommend somewhere in the Poole/Bournemouth area? As a price guide ATS offer the service for about 32 squid!

Considering the result of the impact it might be worth spending the extra for a full digital alignment on a Hunter tracking machine. The laws of physics dictate that the forces of the impact will be transferred through the components of the steering possibly resulting in mis-alignment.

I had the above mentioned procedure done on my vRS a few months after new and it was found to be out (not by much though) despite no impacts of any kind. The operator informed me it is not unusual for cars to be delivered from the factory like this so it was adjusted and I could feel the difference immediately.
