FK coilovers adjustment

Featured Replies

My fabia vRS came with some FK's already fitted, and I'm wondering as to how I go about raising the ride height a little. I've scuffed the floor so much and the ride is pretty harsh on bumpy roads.

I know normally you would simply twist the bit at the spring one way or the other :p but I seem to have a thick spring at the top and a thin spring underneath. Also, the thin springs seem to be completely compressed.

Should I adjust it or just accept that it will sometimes bottom out and will be uncomfortable?

The thin spring is a helper spring. To adjust the height upwards unlock the rings if there are two or undo the grub screw in the side of the locking ring if there is just one and wind upwards.

However raising it up shouldn't make any difference to the ride quality, they are cheap coil overs and do the job they were designed to do..

If the ride comfort isn't going to be improved at all then I might not bother :p I just wish my undertray would stop scraping, but then it's not everyday it does

How are you scrapping the floor? somethings not right? Im all the way down and i have loads of clearance, no probs with speed humps either

Speed bumps or an odd bump in the middle of the road between the wheels. I also scuffed the top of a hedgehog once

the height differences seems to be alot to do with brands. . One of my mates is allway down at front on ap's but still higher than mine n mines got 30+mm of thread left(weitec hicon gt's)

and only scuffed the hedgehog?. .

I cannot go lower as the front arches rub like hell over dips in the Road when driving fast :/ or it it because your on the grass? :)

Well, I just noticed you have the LCR splitter, and I think they do look damn good, but I've scraped kerbs with the bumper when parking before now, so I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea or not.

I suppose if I take more car to avoid big bumps I should be alright, plus I shall be moving to a different area soon where I believe the roads are generally smoother :)

Simple.. dont park over the curb.. just park up to the curb ;)
