Lost Keys

Featured Replies

Procrastination has bitten me badly. I only had one key for my 2000 Skoda Fabia and kept meaning to get around to getting a spare but alas this week the one and only key has vanished. I have rung the dealer and they can get a cut key ordered using the VIN for €50 but to code the key is another €70 and the car will have to be towed 30km to the nearest Skoda dealer at ??? cost.

I had ordered a Vagtacho so that I could get the SKC for my wifes Octavia and for the Fabia but hadn't gotten around to pulling the SKC before the key got lost. If I just get the key from the dealership with the blank transponder will I be able to still pull the SKC using the VAGTacho or do you have to have a working key to do this?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

There are mobile places you can call who will come to you and cut and code a key for your car there on the spot

When i baught my fabia off a mate i got it cheap as he list the keys i wrang a man that i know who dose it all mobile next day he arived in his van looked in a book tapped a few numbers into his computer and cut me a key rught there and then for my car opend my car with the freshly cut key then pluged his little toy into my diag port then coded that key to the car and it cost me £90

No towing no nothing so simple and so accurate

Just av a look on google or where ever for mobile key cutters and get calling.

Unfortunately as its gotta be coded to the car thats what makes the price a bit higher but it solved my problem as skoda where i am in uk wanted a few hundred to do the same job and like you say the cars got to be taken to them.

Hope this helps

@Stephnd161 after a weekend of turning the house upside down my daughter came strolling into the kitchen this morning with the key so who knows where she had hidden but relieved to have it back in hand.

Thats goid you found them but for future refrence remember the mobile key guys they have got my mates out of a good few jams at a cost but always less than the dealer and less hassle to
