So, a remap is imminent for my mk1 octy and am considering these guys (http://www.eco-remapping.com) as they're local and have been established for some time. Spoke to them the other day, seemed friendly and happy to discuss my wants and needs. During the discussion, he mentioned they had just remapped a Fabia VRS and I wondered if it was anyone on here?

Local to me (less than a mile away) but never heard of them. Personally I wouldn't look past the likes of Revo, APR or Shark. You pay your money and take your chances with remaps.

As Jonno says!

Any monkey with a laptop can upload a map and introduce you to a world of pain. Go to a specialist, get a proper remap.

Cheers guys, yeah I've not been able to find any references for them anywhere on tinterweb which doesn't bode too well.

I'm still planning on popping in to have more of a chat with them to case them out- you never know, they might be decent and dont want to write them off out of hand without speaking face to face first. Will let you know.

If it helps at all we have a bit of an offer on the APR remapping, 25% off! So for an Octy vRS Mk1 that would be £269.10 inc VAT with the discount!

We are in Manchester - M44 5AH so there is a little bit of a drive there!

Either way if I can help at all fire me over a PM

Awesome Mike

Try Triple H Motorsport in Benton nr Asda. They are a Revo agent.

Cheers Jonno, I'll look them up. Incidentally, I've heard told of a mapper on the Tyne tunnel ind est (somewhere near vroom apparently) do you know of them?

Mike, thanks for the heads up- definetly a decent price, but Manchester is a bit far for me unless I can combine it with a trip to my folks in Wales at the same time. Will keep it in mind tho!

No never heard of them but as I said above you pay your money and take your chances with remaps so do yourself a favour and invest in a well known and recommended tuner. If it was me, I would want to know that they've mapped countless cars the same make and model as mine and get endorsements from those owners PLUS seek the views of people that have tried different tuners maps on the same make and model car as yours. It pays to do your research where remaps are concerned and invest properly because as stated above any monkey with the right software and a laptop can remap your car but unless they have a proven track record walk away!

Precisely why I put this post up mate! I've been researching this for past 6 months while I've been saving up and lets face it, even the Sharks/APR/REVO maps have their horror stories (albeit usually sorted out in the end). It's just disappointing there doesn't seem to be a 'go to' tuner in the NE.

There is MB Motorsport based in Heburn, which I'm sure isn't too far from you. They are the North East Agent of Jabbasport.

That's more like it! Thanks Jim, will drop them a call tomorrow.

  • 3 weeks later...

triple h motorsport in benton is a REVO dealer

Why not try revolution got my VRS done there with no problems, its been well established and easily the largest northeast tuner for over 15 years! Tbf I've worked there for 6 of those years now so feel free to PM me. I do reflect on what others say though- go to a reputable tuner or a bespoke mapping service - too many people these days with laptops and EBay bought ECU files - as with anything in all walks of life - you get what you pay for.

thanks for all the comments and info guys. thought I'd let ya all know I decided to go with a Jabbasport stage1 map from MB motorsports.

currently sat in a cafe opposite waiting for Jabbasport to sent the map back. typically its raining and Jabbasport have a problem with their computers apparently. hope the cafe owner doesn't mind me waiting it out here....

I hope my recommendation is successful.

I've know Mike Boak for a few years, as he runs Rallycross Cars. He has a few of them. The best is the Audi TT, which he has now converted to diesel (The First diesel Rallycross car). Last year he won an event in it.

I spoke to him a few weeks ago at Croft when Rallycross was there. I'm sure he will be pleased for your business (and vice verca) .

yeah, thanks Jim!

Mike was excellent and I'm certainly happy with the service. Took over 4 hours to get the map back, but so far so good. Definitely a quicker car, but I'm holding back on a final judgement until I've lived with it for a little bit.

Cheers!

Bob.
