Improving side appearance

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm about 90% decided I'm going to be ordering a new vRS in the next week or so.

I've been through numerous pages of threads and can't find what I'm looking for. There's something up with the side appearance of this car and I believe it's because the sections of door frame between the front and rear windows is:

A ) body coloured

B ) rounded in profile

I think this really dates the car and could be improved by blacking that section. Perhaps with some decent carbon fibre effect vinyl?

Has anyone done this? What is the name of the area I'm referring to? I believe the post behind this area is the 'B' pillar? This isnt a deal breaker, but blots an otherwise attractive car IMO.

Thanks

It's called the b pillar and I believe people have done it but IMO it will never look great as at the bottom it would go straight from wrap film to paint and hence a slight ridge.

If you look at the Super Skoda web site, you will see a couple of options for covering the B pillar (and C pillars if you have an estate). If I get the chance later I will find the link.

As mentioned in my earlier post.

If you investigate further on the site, options for estate pillar covers show some photos, example below.

I just wonder how durable the fixings are in british weather or car washes !!

Thanks for that. Something to consider.

It's something I thought about when deciding on my tints. In the end, I didn't think it was necessary. As above, not sure the wrap would look right as there's no place to finish it off properly and then bits you stick on would look, well, a bit stuck on.

I quite like it the way it is... so maybe I'm dated too?

Thanks for that, just what I was looking for.

I don't know if that looks a bit weird now. Maybe it's the black roof skewing my judgement!

The green VRS when you open the link above is probably the most hideous car i have ever seen. Each to their own though. The photos of the blue car posted later on look good with the wrap applied. I actually like the B pillars body coloured as i cant remember off hand any other car that has it nowadays - makes it unique, plus my last car had polished black B pillares and my god did they show up finger marks.

I prefer the VRS "B pillar" body coloured look.

Reason:-

No finger print marks to try and clean off or that discoloured black (plastic look)

The rubber trim/seals around the window has a much better look and finish to most cars (especialy the ones with the lower sections coming off).

I quite like how the pillars have a sense of movement in the looks when standard, Its designed like that, and looks good.

I agree that if the pillars were normal and straight edged then it would look good blacked up.

But coloured or non coloured they both look good

I close my doors using the door handles so no finger prints  . Someone swore in an earlier post ,Carwash! :giggle:
