Powerflex 65-Shore Lower Engine Bush, anyone tried?

Featured Replies

Just noticed there was a 65-shore version..

http://www.briskoda....-now-available/

Anyone tried these? I cant seem to find reviews or info on it.

Cant complain at £25.87 posted.. I wonder if my freedom account has discount.

Think I'll give them a try unless someone says otherwise..

Looks like this could be good. I've got the super pro which does add quite a bit of vibration so this could be a good solution. Wouldn't want to try it myself until after Xmas so if you go for it let me know :-)

I'll write a comparison between the standard, super pro and this later on, but yes this one is so much better and if your anal you'll notice the difference in vibrations but you'll also notice how crisp the gear change is

Thanks, would like to know difference between 65 and super pro/70 really.

Theres a repeating phrase: "more direct gear change". Though I have little idea what that actually means lol. Is it like more positive clunky gear change? Or is it more of when gear is changed and throttle on you get more of a push up the backside due to less sponge between engine chassis?

Super pro one is unbearable IMHO!! The steering wheel and dash chattered more than my SMF!! It was used for 1500 miles as I was told it would get better.

The gear change was amazing though!

I'm interested in the powerflex one... But I cant see how only 5 shore can make a massive difference?

Interested in ones of these also!

Are they easy to fit??

Right here goes,

Standard - soft and comfortable. I replaced my original one which was 8 years old with this and whilst it improved it, it didn't quite feel 100% there. Whilst there was no change in vibration the amount of effort to change gear was reduced.

SuperPro 70shore - I replaced my standard one with this and used it for around 5k miles. You can really feel it when at idle, everything shakes that wee bit more and is noticeable. Wouldn't really say it was comfortable over a king time. However the gear changes felt much much more positive, it felt a lot slicker

Powerflex 65shore - I replaced the superpro one after being at Awesome GTI and getting to actually squeeze and feel the bush, felt a lot softer than the superpro. This is a lot more comfortable and a lot less noticeable (if it was fitted as standard you wouldn't notice) but if you have an ear for all rattles then you'll notice it.

All are very easy to fit, I used a vice and grease to fit them. You could jump on them or hammer them in, whatever takes your fancy :p

Thanks for the great review. How does the gear change feel with the 65 shore? Just as good as the 70?

I think this will be on the shopping list :-)

Yeah just as good, nice and firm. And if coupled with the gear linkage adjustment (fabdarav's guide) it'll feel better than new

Awesome think I'm going to order one! How does the old bush come out? Just break it out?

Did you give the 70 a good squeeze too? Super pro seem to have solid walls whereas the Powerflex ones have ridges which may give a little more? I'll probably go for the powerflex 65 anyway since im a pansy and want a smoother ride. Thanks for the review

I just need a confirmation from Al at Awesome that its £25.87 for us briskodians. :D

Yeah just comes out, if yours doesn't want to, hammer and chisel :p and Trev, I can't search for it on my phone just now, but there is a guide and it has a video link too, made a big difference to mine

Google is also your friend.........

Gear Link Adjustment Guide - Fabia mk1: http://www.briskoda....ar-box-linkage/

Cheers for that dude!

Looks a tad complicated for me lol!

I fitted a 65shore recently.

I did it as the car vibrated a fair bit on idle. After reading on here and other sites that the car does slightly vibrate as standard I thought something was wrong and replaced this bush.

The car vibrates a lot less and does not seem to be the same type of vibration, however I feel the first problem is still there somehow.

Overall the 65shore feels alot better though when changing gear and putting the power down in gear.

If anyone wants to buy my Superpro bush they are more than welcome to it, I'm often sat in stationary traffic and that is just too harsh for me.... Keys bloody jangle in the ignition!

Had mine fitted today over at Awesome.

Have to say, feels a lot nicer now. A very very small amount of vibration on idle, definitely not enough to bother me, but no 'shunting' and gear change feels a lot nicer!

I fixed this by attaching my car key to the rest of the keys with an elasticated hairband! No more jangly keys for me! :giggle:

So put this on today, got rid of my squeaks which is nice! wohoo.

Fitting was straight forward, I pushed it in with some copper grease supplied and a branch chopper..... thought it wouldn't have enough welly if im honest, it was the 1st thing i saw in the garage and I couldn't be bothered to find the vice, went in pretty easily. lol

Ok, my take on the 65 shores:

Feel - the delay from foot down to car moving is less, the reaction or response is alot sharper compared to my worn 60k miles std bushes. Its crisp when you accelerate, much like if you jump into a new car you push the pedal you instantly feel something.

Vibrations - very very minor high frequency vibrations, im being anal of course. Anyone else wouldn't notice as they don't spend as much time as me in the car.

Haven't given it a boot down the A roads yet but i'm sure being more responsive you could accelerate after apex sooner or with more precision.

Would be interested to see what the 70 feels like, as the 65 feels like I have no downsides therefore i assume the improvement could be more significant if I went harder  (but i shouldn't as its supposed to be a boring daily car).

I have noticed (as said somewhere else), the powerflex versions have ridges in them to reduce vibrations (compared to super pro which does not?) so maybe a powerflex 70 will do the trick if you want something a little more aggressive.. ;)

Excellent glad to hear it JL, yeah i looked at your guide before fabdavrav :)
