Remote locking's kinda just died

Featured Replies

As it says in the thread title really, it was a tad iffy whilst i had my old flip key shell, but part of that was due to battery, sometimes I had to put the key in the lock and turn it, then all of the sudden the remote locking would respond. Came out of work today, hit the button, nothing. Key in lock, lights flashed and I was able to relock / unlock it on the button, but only once then it did nothing. Got home no issues, and when I came to locking it, it wouldn't have it. Had to lock it by key.

Anyone know what's likely to be causing this? I can't be done with the alarm blowing every time I open the door having had to open it on the key

Won't fix your problem, but you get 15 seconds after unlocking the car to turn the ignition on and cancel the alarm, if it's going off every time then just do that in the meantime so you don't go deaf...

Change the battery in the key. I had the same problem and that solved it.

After fidding with the key last night (took batts out, cleaned contacts and put back in), it appears that my locking is working again, no idea what it would be, just going to play it by ear and see what happens. It worked from half way across the work car park today though which seems promising!

SWMBO's Fabia 1 has a similar problem! It usually works, but you have to stand right next to the car.

Changed the battery and exactly the same!

Will try taking it apart and cleaning it thoroughly to see if that makes any difference.

Any other ideas why range would be so low? It used to work over a longer distance.

No idea about range i'm afraid but after changing the battery about a year ago, i can lock/unlock the car from about 50 metres away (Only a rough guess on distance as never measured it ;))

Well...mine's still working so far, just going to keep an eye on it, range isn't bad but it's not massive.

It's just ******* died again!

I don't know what to suggest apart from a visit to a Skoda/VAG specialist and maybe a new key.

Yet more money :/ could it be that the key needs to be reprogrammed? If it is how do I do that?
