Slight lurch on full lock from start

Featured Replies

I'm seen a thread about this some time ago - no one seemed to know what caused it.

Anyway, in an idle moment I had a thought. What if the Haldex drive causes it?

As I understand it, the Haldex is a wet multiplate clutch arrangement which has spring loading to eliminate "chatter" and close up the reponse time. I think this may be the reason for the natural stated 4% rear wheel drive figure - perhaps not, who knows.

What if, from a cold first start on full lock, the differential speeds call for slippage which may not be as forthcoming as when warmed after a period of running? A bit of "sticktion" releases when the plates slip and gives the impression of a hesitation.

Yes, I know it may be stupid - any thoughts?

My Yeti is always started and first moved on full lock due to its position in the garage. So far it has never shown any sign of lurching or shuddering.
