how low?

Featured Replies

I'm getting some kw v1 coilovers fitted next week and was wondering how low people have set there cars at and what problems if any you've had with doing so? Pics please :)

Mine on kw v1's believe it or not

About as low as they can go

10k miles and no problems, ride is good too

Nice one,that does look good:)

this was when i first fitted them, car has been modified alot since but no recent pics, it used to catch the odd cat eye if i was driving in a dip, no speed bumps, no comfort, bouncy. Sore left hip getting in and out

coilover1.jpgactually i do have a recent pic or two, this is where she sits now

Its much improved, still low but all ride handling and collision issues solved........Hips still sore, not kw but its for ride height you were asking yeah?

There most be a sweet spot where it's low enough to look good and still have reasonable ride and by the sound of it jase and yourself have found it,luckily my car is also silver so give me an idea of how I won't mine to look, cheers fellas :)

Search mate.

Lots on hights.

Due to the pre set damping on them the lower you go the worse the car will be.

These are similar to weitec gt and they are best around std ride hight. Lower you go also ruins handling aswell as ride quallity.

Best thing to do for me is have rears a tad lower than std and fronts 20mm lower. That will close the arch gape and look good while improving handling lots. Due to the wishbonrs beimg at their lowest limit for angles on std hight. Going to low like some have makes the wishbones point up in effect narrowing the trackbof the car and when cornering it gets narrower.

Tis your car tho mate so its up to you.

I having v3 on next and am still staying around std hight on rear maybe 10mm lower then 20-25mm lower on fronts that should be spot and and near the optimum for handling.

Cheers for the reply,I don't won't to go to low as most of the time I'm transporting swmbo and the kids around would just like the arch gap a bit smaller with the option to go low if I feel like it,variant 3....very nice :)

This is how mine is sitting at the minute mate. Couldn't tell you how much it is dropped on the coilovers.

Just slam it like gee said. Can always raise it abit

Jonesy are those wheels/tyres the correct circumference? Looks like they are a bit small, prob just the pic, but it looks like there should be more rubber on the rims. Like I say maybe just the pic - love the wheels, what size are the tyres on there the now?

I was thinking the same thing myself lofty. Tyres are 205/40/17. Think i need new tyres.

Get some 225/45's on there mate. Would look tons better.

Had 225/45's on the spiders mate. Filled the arches better, was thinking of 215/45's ?

My priority is handling so would always go for the best contact patch I can. But if you'd prefer it go for it. Would still look better than 205/40!

My uncle owns a tyre shop so might try some part worn 215's first and if they are no good buy some 225's

They are fabia fitment mate way too small for the octy.

Your adding unneccesary miles to the car and your speedo is out.

225 45 17 or 205 50 17

Defo new tyres needed then.

bit off topic but is that the oem roof rack?

I've got a similar aftermarket one, or could be the same, cost me a tenner on ebay lol.

Haven't used it though, had the idea I would use it all the time for different things but in the end I haven't yet lol

Eccentric toast they are the Thule ones, foot pack 753 and fitting kit 3003 they are also angled for the roof line. Bit pricey but found mine on gumtree for 40 quid. Onebay they fetch about 160 delivered new.

They use the fixing points so no paint contact.

Mines mountblanc and mount exactly the same way, they fit into the mounting points on the roof and they don't touch any paint
