Rear lights turned on durring day

Featured Replies

I have a 2010 Octavia II 1.4 TSI DSG 7 Elegance and would like the rear lights to be turned on during the day when the DRLs are turned on. Any-one found a solution for this? Current coding

Your dealer can provide the solution by coding it!

When i got my car, it was the other way around, my DRL lights where on back and front, he coded it to the front only!

They tried for 2 hours today and gave up :(

magic62 helped me when setting up my Columbus on VCDS ( :hi:)and looking through various other options and I am sure this was one he mentioned if he is about he may know the answer.

Should be possible. I have a 10 plate vRS and dealer re-coded mine so that rears are always on. They did admit that they didn't know it could be done until I asked for it.

Sarge.

You will have to code for northern countries. This is what turns on the rear lights when the drls are on.

I am on holidays in Italy at the moment, will have to look where you can code that.

(did it on all my VAG cars, VRS and both the A6s)

Do i Need to modify byte 18 In bcm?

isn't that called "scandinavia" mode?

the rear lights & dash lights are active with the drl.

in "north america" mode, the headlights r used as drl. i.e. headlights r always on. all other lights r off.

I think that could be it but although you get front DRLs and rear lights you don't get dash illumination - at least I don't on mine. To get my dash lights I need to put headlights on.

yeah, i'm not sure about the dash lights.

i haven't done this myself, so i can't b certain on them

This CAN be enabled but NOT with VCDS at the moment.

The Skoda dealer tool VAS can enable "tail lights with DRL's" within the menu of the J519 (central control module) I watched my local dealer do it on my 2012 vRS.

Upon my conversation with Dana from RossTech they said the VAS tool must change the coding in byte 18 which can be iffy using VCDS. This issue has been covered, search Byte 18 coding problems!

Why would you want them on during the day?

For the same reason you'd want front DRL's on during the day I'm guessing!

I always thought the 'Scandinavian' and 'North American' settings utilised dipped headlights rather than the dedicated DRL's?

Scandinavian - on/off with the ignition - tail lights and headlights.

North American - on/off with the hand brake - headlights only.

The only 'iffy' bit about it is you do not know what the current code is, as it is hidden behind the mask '00' once you know the code it is no different to any other coding.

I understand. has anyone successfully changed the byte 18 coding to produce front LEDs and rear tails on at the same time? I though they have changed it but could only get it to revert back to normal front LEDs only?
