FLASHING red light with what looks like waves and a temp gauge

Featured Replies

Hi two occasions now I've started my fabia and get a flashing warning light with what looks like waves and a temp gage , if I switch of and back on it goes any ideas to what this is ???? Also been as cold as it was this morning the glo plug light goes straight out when turning the key but not starting new glow plugs you rekon ????

The Skoda manual says its the Coolant Temp/Coolant Level. Did it beep 3 times as well??

I used to get this all the time when it was really cold but never had any problems starting.

Yeah check the coolant reservoir, if its full check the electrical connector on the top as may need a clean...

When I had this problem it turned out some monkey had leant on the little black box above the N/S top mount in the engine bay which has a nail underneath it which has gone thru the wires which went to the top of the coolant tank... But may not be any of those!

it's quiet a common issue, if the coolant level is correct then the fault lies with the sensor becoming gunked up. The sensor can be cleaned, remove expansion cap with the engine COLD and not use a screwdriver and scrape the inside edges of the sensor which is basically like a pair of scissors that open / close. You may need to open the two parts to get between them.

I get the same quite often. I have to keep topping up the expansion tank. I just wish I could find and fix the the leak :/

i have been looseing coolent for a few weeks and last week found water under th car but could nt see where it was coming from took fan off to get better look found out that the fan switch in radiator was loose and coolant was coming ut check it is tight

For the record mine does this, but hasn't for a good while.... Also, implanted it before and the light came up and was beeping, so I took the cap off my expansion tank and it dropped all the water, after investigation the plug on my rad had popped out :(

Mine did it this morning too, must be a common problem. All cleared when I switched it off and on again !!

Hi having this problem with my 2008 Octavia 2.0 TDi VRS.

Changed the coolant bottle thinking it was the level sensor but still get the red STOP Check Coolant message..... Could it be the Temp sender sensor??

Any help much appreciated.
