  • The "cause maximum embarrassment" approach.

  • I think to sum this up there are just some complete and utter cocks on the road no matter what car your in

  • Oh yeah...........In your Skoda Octavia's with 4 rings on the grille......that you paid £3000 extra for.

No, not in the Audi, thats just the family plodder, I'm talking about the the Westfield. I like to oblige the boy racers, getting through some tyres this year though :giggle:

Those Westfield's are insanely fast. I'm surprised anyone even attempts to challenge you at the lights!

I don't understand why either. The boys seem to think if they have a noisier car---it's faster, or because I'm an older geezerI don't know how to drive it. :giggle:

Could be a future purchase of mine once I have the double garage...

Whats the specs of them?

Oddly enough I don't get it in the Nissan.

Used to occasionally in the Fabia VRS, but that used to surprise people.

I think the Fabia is subtle enough not to get too much attention, but some people just don't like to get a sound thrashing by a Skoda.

Particularly those with half quick cars.

It seems we can most likely put it down to a lack of knowledge about cars to a big degree then, as why anyone would bother thinking "i'm gonna have this little go-kart thing here (westfield, no offence, I'm writing as a chav would think), watch . . . " is beyond me.

And as was said . . . "I have a big exhaust that makes loads of noise, low profile tyres, fake body kit additions not painted to match the car properly, cheap ebay after-market bucket seats and a pipercross air filter, so now my 1.0l/1.2l corsa/fiesta/punto/clio etc is clearly faster than anything else on the road!!"

I find that as well, way more people just change lanes on the motorway as if I'm not there when I'm in the yellow car than our blando silver Leon. also, how very dare you, Fabia equivalent indeed... :p

People pull out in front of our yellow Lupo a lot, I just thought it was the small car problem.

...a very large amount of idiots all tearing up behind me in all makes of cars ... I drive it sensibly, and only up to the speed limit.

I don't have a vRS, but I find there's a lot of people who are somewhat impatient, and get somewhat annoyed at people actually travelling at the speed limit (e.g. driving so close to you that you stuggle to see the bottom of their windscreen in the rear-view mirror).

Ignore them

Indeed. Just remember to leave a larger gap in front of you when you have a tailgater, so that should you need to brake, you can do so more gently (to mitigate the risk of you doing an emergency stop and them going straight up behind you).

funnily enough i had it the other way round a few weeks ago, someone came flying up behind me in a black mk1 vrs trying to get me to play but i was truning off anyway lol!

It depends on the engine fitted....there are alot of engine options I think.

The fastest ones can do 0-60 in just over 3 seconds.

True dat, should have asked for "his" spec!

Probably me on my way back from Birmingham to Worcester. The dual carriage way down to Jn3 M42 is great for overtaking. :giggle:

It seems BMWs/Audis/Volvo Estate drivers don't like being overtaken by a little black Skoda & usually try and block the outside lane.

The other month I was heading in to Birmingham up the forementioned dual carriageway (probably going 'just a little' faster than the speed limit) when a great big gold Volvo estate pulled across on me. Because of the speed difference I had to break quite hard to stop ploughing into the back of him. I flashed my lights & did the hand gesture of 'what did you do that for!' (nothing rude or offensive) and this guy went ABSOLUTLY NUTS!! He slowed right down (about 30mph) started to weave across the road, turning round in he seat, giving me the Vs & shaking his fist. He was gesturing for me to undertake him but I just sat there in the outside lane & ignored him. Further up the road he pulled in to a bus stop, let me go by & pulled out again and continued to onslaught of gesturing which entailed lots of rude signs & mimicking death signs across his neck, flashing his lights & sounding his horn. This went on for about 2 or so miles when finally he realised that I wasn't going to bite & he was probably going completely the wrong way (I think the nut house was in the opposite direction).

I does go to show that some people just hate being overtaken & dont like being flashed for being a stupid driver!!

btw, I would have been temped to stop, but by the look of him he probably could have played Scrum Half for the All Blacks & would have snapped me in half like a twig!!

Washers & ploom of smoke out the back. I see it as a modern day tar & feathering. They soon learn.

Forget for one min my Skoda 1.9TDI Elegance (chipped) .... but try and appreciate how annoyed i get when on the nice days i travel to work on my Honda Fireblade 954RR2 ! And i still get the same half-wits in the 1.2 nova's/corsa's wanting to race me ..... you could not make it up ! It would take the likes of a Porsche GT4 or Buggati Veyron to even challenge me in a drag race, but still (in their tiny minds) they think they stand a chance, by the mere fact they are half-wits is the exact reason they can see what we see.

Too many versions to go into here and so many owners tune and upgrade them but generally-

Xflows, CVH's,pintos------------Fast and cheap

Zetecs, vauxhall Redtops (mine}------------Very fast and up to £10k to buy

V8's--------------Very Fast cruisers

Bike engine ie Blade, Busa, Bird----------mega fast and light.

Highly tuned Cosworth's, Duratec's , light V8's ---- Stupidly fast, Were talking more than Veyron Power To weight ratios here.

Have a look at me mates

Oh my he can drive! Does he do passenger rides?

We've a Westfield sitting in the barn. Needs building. Got an 4AGE engine running about 180bhp to go in. Will be mated to a Ford Type 9 g'box.

I like the moments at 1:20 and 1:30! He did well not to end up pointing the wrong way.

Very quick, they look like great fun on the track. I bet his rear tyres were shot after that track day!

He loves taking people as a passenger, even I'm too scared

Thats seems high for 4age unless it is charged or very expensive mods? Anyway get it finished, you'll love it on the road or track. Register on Westfield sports car club forum, lots of help there and some good banter, just like Briskoda.

Tyres wear surprisingly little on 7 Type cars as they are so light.

Ha ha happens to me , but I say live a little floor it to pull away far enough , slow back down to laugh at them as they come past you 5 mins later . ;0) makes me feel better and would be worth the 3 points for the shear satisfaction .

I'm not to sure this is going off figures of the old guy we bought it off, we had some invoices that the engine was about £3500 worth. We only paid £1800 for the lot, 2 engines. Axle, chassis, bodywork, twin 40 webers, twin 40 dellortos, 2 sets of wheels. Omex, gearbox.

We haven't really had much money to add much but we've since bought c/f aero screen / dash. Manifold. Strengthened wishbones, roll cage, lights and things. There's so many bits and bobs to buy. I'm considering selling my GSXR to put the money towards it but a bit worried about not being able to insure at the end.

I'm told the 4age should be fun though since it revs quite high? We bought a custom made bell housing to mate it to the type 9 gearbox and they said that the gearbox might not take the revs?

Ask these people at BGH, they are the experts on type 9's http://www.bghgearte...ml/contact.html they'll know what the boxes are capable of.

Insurance is quite cheap on kit cars. mine is £128 for the 2litre. with 4000 limited miles, from A plan Kit Car insurance, there are some other specialists in Kit Car insureance, you will be pleasantly surprised.
